pressed by the cavalry "non-comas,"
because the unforma they have are
not well adapted to the winter

Houston, sent to Austin for that

General Wolters has issued the
following special order covering the
movement:
“By direction of the adjutant gen*
eral, state of Texas, the brigade com-
menders and regimental commanders
of the cavalry regiments will consti-
tute a part of the governor's personal
staff during the inaugural ceremonies
"Those concerned will participate
in the parade during the forenoa of
the 21st of January, and immedialely
thereafter turn their mounts over to
orderlies to be taken to Camp Mabry
"They will report to the adjutant
general and attend with the adjutant
general the inaugural ceremontes in
the house of representattves.
"Those concerned will wear O. D
uniform with blouse, campaign hats
during this ceremony.
"They will likewise attend In same
capacity inauguaral ball. wearring
same uniform, except that raps will
be substituted for campaign hats,
"Raber* will be worn on both oc-
caslons
"Root* and not leggins will be
worn."

Dr. George P. Smartt of Austin
die at the Austin City hospital on
Thursday morning at 5:90 o’clock
after a brief illness of influenza.
Literally he gave his life to his
professional ideal of duty.
During the influenza epidemic he
waited upon more than three hun-
dred cases of that disease, nearly
two-thirds of the number being char-
ity cases.
And after being taken sick, with
fever of 105 degrees, Dr. Smartt got
up out of bed and waited upon two
eases when no other medical aid
could be obtained for them.
Largely his death is attributed to
this very cause.
Was Member County Draft Board.
In addition to performing his du-
ties as a physician, Dr. Smartt was a
member of the Travis county draft
board, and no member of that or any
other board in the state gave better
service to the government.
Frequently his work had kept him
up night and day.
Had Been County Health Officer.
Upon the resignation of Dr. Loving,
the former commissioners' court
elected Dr. Smartt county health of-
ficer. and he served in that position
till the new commissioners took of-
fice
Friday afternoon. County Judge
Pickle spoke of Dr. Smartt in the
reports show that the disease

Interment will take place at the
family burying ground at Manor, and
the train returningrwill be held there

friends from Austin to return home
without waiting for the night train.
The railroad officials gladly ar-
ranged this for a man who was their
local surgeon for many faithful years
