toria and Chad Allen Kocian
of Katy were married Nov. 17,
2007, at First English Lutheran
Church in Victoria. The Rev-
erend William C. Hassel and
Reverend Barney A. Matocha,
Jr. officiated the double-ring
ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Dan and Karen Hairell of Victo-
ria. She is the granddaughter
of Richard and Wilhelmina
Kolonko, Sr. of Hallettsville,
the late Eddie Bell McCord,
and the late Hollie Hairell.
The groom is the son of
Martin Jr. and Geneva Kocian
of Victoria. He is the grandson
of Arnold Loth of Schulenburg
and the late Leona Lot h, Annie
Kocian of Yoakum, and the late
Martin Kocian, Sr.
Kristi Hairell, sister of the
bride, attended as maid of
honor.
Bridesmaids were Shawndra
Kocian, sister of the groom
and friend of the bride, and
Courtney Westerman, friend
of the bride. Andrea Schaefer,
friend of the couple, attended
as flower girl. Bryan Schaefer,
friend of the couple, served as
ring bearer.
Shawn Neuman, cousin
of the groom, served as best
man. Groomsmen were Logan
Kocian, cousin of the groom,
and Jason Boehm, friend of
the couple.

Paul Mack Johnson, a
loving husband, father and
grandfather, passed away
Monday, Feb. 25,2008, in Fort
Worth.
Graveside services will
take place today (Wednes-
day) at 3:30 p.m. in Shannon
Rose Hill Cemetery. Visita-
tion was held yesterday at
Shannon Rose Hill Funeral
Chapel.
Paul Johnson was born
Sept 13,1928, in Yoakum, the
son of Hugh Mack and Jessie
Kincaid Johnson. He was a
1946 graduate of Yoakum
High School. Paul Mack mar-
ried Helen Patricia Hermes
on June 21, 1953. He served
in the U.S. Army Paul was
employed by American Manu
facturing Co. for 33 years in
Fort Worth. He and Pat were
members of the Wally Byam
Cavaran International Club,
part of the North Texas Air-
stream group.
Survivors: Wife of 54 years,
Helen Patricia Hermes John
son of Fort Worth; children,
Elaine Cowan and husband,
Roy, of Arlington, Justin
Johnson and wife, Cheryl, of
Arlington, Nathan Johnson
and wife, Marla, of Gilbert,
Ariz., and Charles Johnson of
Katonah, N.Y.; grandchildren,
Martha Hicks, Eric Cowan,
Sarah Cowan, Blake Johnson,
Chase Johnson, Nicholas
Johnson and Briana Johnson;
brother-in-law, Earl French;
sister-in-law, Jean Johnson;
and numerous nieces and

Ray Barrera
Reynaldo "Ray” Barrera,
age 68, died on Thursday, Feb.
21,2008.
He was born in Concrete
on April 24, 1939 to Carlos
and Angelita Loya Barrera.
He worked at Yoakum
Printing, served in the U.S.
Army reserves and was a
catholic.
Survivors: daughters, Cyn-
thia Jimenez and husband
Blase of Cuero, Diana Ji-
menez and husband Ernest of
Humble; sons, Carlos Barrera
and wife Terry of Yoakum,
Rodolfo “Rudy” Barrera of
San Diego, California; sisters,
Ramona Gomez of Yoakum,
Victoria Cervantes of Huff-
man; brothers, Noe Barrera,
Carlos Barrera and Robert
Barrera all of Yoakum; ten
grandchildren and one great
grandchild.
Preceded in death by:
parents; brothers, Arthur
Barrera, Pete Barrera and
Rodolfo Barrera.
Funeral services took place
on Monday at St. Joseph Cath
olic Church with Rev. Mat-
thew Huehlefeld officiating.
Burial followed at Yoakum
Restland Cemetery.

Ella Kocian
Mrs. Ella Caroline Kocian,
94, of Hallettsville, died Feb
19,2008. She was born on Dec.
31, 1913 to Paul E & Matilda
Brode Pilzner in Moulton.
She married Godfrey “Mike”
Kocian on Nov. 15, 1938 at St.
Joseph Catholic Church in
Yoakum.
Ella, along with her hus-
band, stayed strong in her
faith in good times and hard
times. She was a member of
the Altar Society, and Queen
of Peace Catholic Church in
Sweet Home. She was a lov-
ing and devoted mother and
wife. She worked along side
her husband raising their
children, as well as helping
with farming and ranching.
She was a wonderful gar-
dener, and produced many
great vegetables and beauti-
ful flowers.
Ella worked hard taking
care of her family. She sewed,
canned, cooked and always
had something freshly baked
for the children when they
returned from school. Her
baking specialty was ko-
laches. Ella loved having her
family and friends around.
She enjoyed working puzzles
and playing dominos with
them. She was a gentle loving
person and will be greatly
missed by all her family and
friends.
Ella is survived by: 2 sons,
Victor Kocian of Stafford, and
Ray Kocian & wife Mary of
Cypress; 4 daughters, Dolores
Renger & husband Kenneth
of Hallettsville, Virginia Gan-
dy & husband Jerry of Athens,
Ella Loos & husband Johnny
of Shiner, and Beatrice Flana-
gan & husband Mike of Aus-
tin; brother Robert Pilzner
& wife Dorothy of Victoria;
sister Matilda Schmidt of Yoa-
kum; 13 grandchildren, Karen

ters, Emma Boening. Annie

Services were held on Fri
day at Queen of Peace Catho-
lic Church with burial at St.
Joseph Catholic Cemetery
in Yoakum. Visitation and a
rosary took place on Thursday
at Kubena Funeral Home.
Officiate: Rev. Charles
Sonnier.
