ARE DOING
The Reklaw Baptist Church
was awarded a certificate at the
Annual Associational meeting
of the Cherokee Co. Association
of Baptist Churches recently.
This certificate, awarded by
District Missions Secretary H.
M. Ward and Moderator Wayne
Morrow, named the Reklaw
church as winner in the Associ-
ational Church Achievement
Program for 1962.
Seals were earned in the cate-
gory of "Toward a Better
Church" and "Toward a Better
World."
Gene Tomlin, pastor of the
Reklaw church, stated that the
church had adopted 154 goals
in these categories and also in
the category named "Toward A
Better Community."
Some of the goals set and
reached were: Strive to have
at least 10 additions to the
church; hold two revival meet-
ings, conduct Music Week;
make additional progress on
church plant, assist in disasters
such as Hurricane Carla and
the Thanksgiving tornado that
struck the Oak Flat Communi-
ty; have typhoid immunization
drive;
Have missionaries speak in
church; increase gifts to mis-
sions; organize W. M. S., add
Sunday School and Training
Union classes as needed; en-
courage legislation to help the:
moral and social standards of
our community, state and na-
tion.
This is the second consecu-
tive year that the Reklaw
Church has received this Asso-
ciational recognition, and the
third time to receive this recog-
nition since the beginning of
the Achievement Program.
