The urgency of the Middle East
situation was given another re-
minder Thursday night when So-
viet Prime Minister Marshal Niko-
lai A. Bulganin said Great Britain,
France and Israel should pay com-
pensation to Egypt for damages
caused by their invasions.
He made no mention of previous
Soviet threats to send in “volun-
teers” but he was reported to
have warned Israel that its actions
threatened the existence of the
state—a warning he made in an
earlier note.
