11 Complete RSH Remotivation
Eleven staff members at
Rusk Hospital completed 30
hours study in Remotivation,
and received certificates of
completion last Friday morn-
ing in special ceremonies.
Instructor for the course,
Mrs. Billy Dement, pre-
sided at the meeting in the
Canteen Conference Room.
She introduced various ho -
pital official- who spoke br-
iefly to the group. Mr . Es-
telle Gifford, R.N., Regional
Remotivation Coordinator,
expressed hope that their
(the graduate ) enthusiasm
would continue, and she
praised them as being a
"good group."
Or. Arch Connolly, hos-
pital superintendent, was the
principal speaker. He spoke
of the spreading use of the
term, "remotivation," not-
ing how it has entered the
psychologist's vocabulary.
He also talked briefly about
the newly inaugurated ''Hos-
pital Staff Development" pro-
gram, of which Remotivation
is a part. The program has
been funded at Rusk State
Hospital in the amount of
$25,000 by the Federal go-
vernment, according to Dr.
Connolly, and hopefully the
new approach will be more
beneficial for the individua'
patient.
Dr. Connolly presented
Certificates of Completion to
the following hospital pers-
onnel; Loma Carroll, Doro-
thy Cornelius, John Hogue,
Roland Maness, Josephine Cl-
ark, Charles Clark, Mike San-
chez, Thelma Hicks, Melba
Driver, Agnes Taylor, and
Finnie Gene Norwood.
Mrs. Edith Vick, director
of nursing services at the
hospital, alsooffered her con-
gratular ions to the group for
their interest and enthusiasm.
Punch, coffee, assorted tea
cookies and sandwiches were
served during a -ocial per-
iod after the program.
FROM
THE LIONS
DEN
By:E. B.Musick, Jr.
We are told that a woman
with a little boy and a little
girl took both to the rest
room on a plane, putting the
boy in one, and going in with
the girl to the other. The boy
left quickly, and a man went
in, forgetting to lock the door.
Coming out of the other la-
voratory the mother cracked
the door of what ^he thought
was the boy's a little and said
in a whisper, "Don't forget
your zipperl" When the man
returned to his seat, he said
to his wife, "These stewar-
desses think ot everything!"
Lion Grady Dupree had hard
luck with his program last
Thursday and Lion President
Robert von Doenhoff filled
in w<th a talk on Lionism.
So many were talking during
the time he spoke that very
few were able to hear the
message. Many had gone deer
hunting and our attendance
was a wee bit short. With all
the Lions hunting instead of
selling brooms it would seem
that venison will be served
this Thursday. Lion Frank
Howell was busy getting ev-
erything set up for the broom
sale Tuesday. If all Lions
turn out it will be highly
successful. A report will be
ready for our Thursday
meeting.
Mr. Morris W. Hassell,
Stanley Chapman and Lion
Paul B. Cox were warned
about the T.C.U. and Texas
game but they would not lis-
ten. If it had not been for
their Church affiliation they
could have made big money.
Well, better luck next time
and please listen to the au-
thorities.
At some point as an ac-
tive Lion we wonder "Why
am I doing this? Helping in
the Broom Sale when I would
rather be home watch ingT.V.
What do I get out of it?"
The reward is very large
indeed. We sometimes for-
get that the deeds perform-
ed in our own community art
being repeated each day In
other communities all aroind
the world. Thin'.- of ltl There
are nearly 800,000 of us pur-
suing the goals of the As-
sociation. And what is the
goal of our Association? It
is eventual peace and under-
standing everywhere-a better
world of today and tomorrow.
There can be no more Impor-
tant investment. The active
Lion is never underpaid for'
his contribution. You will
always receive a dividend
from Lionism much larger
than your investment. We
are participating, after all,
in the world's most profi-
table enterprise. See you
Thursday noon New Southern
Motel.
