for business and professional
men, was organized by Paul
P. Harris a Chlcaog lawyer
from Vermont, on February
23, 190S. As a "cure" for
llneliness In the big city, he
proposed his Idea for a club

dealer, a mining engineer, and'
a tailor Because subsequent
meetings were held In mem-
bers' offices in rotation, Har-
ris suggested the name Rot-
fry.
^he first meeting of the Ro-
tary Club of Chicago was held
In February 1905, and by Aug-
ust, the club had 21 members
most of them men from small
towns. By 1912, there were
50 Rotary Clubsand5,000Ro-
tarlans, and the movement had
spread to Canada, England,
Ireland and Scotland.
Today, there are more than
658,000 busines= and profes-
sional men around the globe

Funeral services for Clif-
ford Raymond (Buck) Dover,
48, of Rusk, who was killed
Saturday in a one-car mishap
on FM 1910 four miles west
of Dialvllle were held at 10
a.m. Monday at the Wallace
Funeral Chapel in Rusk. The
who wear the distinctive cog-
wheel emblem of Rotary In-
ternational. They are engag-
ed in service projects at every
level, from providing local
youth centers to helping fellow
Rotarians in India sink wells
for small villages in need of
pure water,
Jame^ F, Conway Is presi-
dent of Rotary International.
Rl encompasses some 300
districts which each has Its
own officer, a District Gover-
nor. The Rusk club is in Dis-
trict 591 of which local mem-
ber Houston White Is curren-
tly as District Governor.
Kev. Grover Talbert and the
Rev. O, P. Meador officiated.
Busial was in the Providence
Cemetery at Dialvllle.
Investigating patrolmen said
Mr. Dover apparently lost
control of the auto which hit
an embankment. He was pro-
nounced dead at the scene by
Justice of the Peace Marvin
Echols.
A livelong resident of Rusk,
he was a brickmanson and a
veteran of World War II.
Survivors Include his moth-
er, Mrs, Tyra Dover of Rusk;
and three sisters, Mrs. Gla-
dys Croft of San Marcos, Mrs.
Joyce Boldridge of Port Orc-
hard, Wash., and Mrs. Janice
Scott of Rusk.
Pallbearers were Dale Cr-
oft, Stephen Croft, Johnnie
Spraggins, Mike Spraggins,
Charle^ Moody and James
Moody.
