ter quality, lake bed and

"The City will need to get
- an opinion from the Water
Development Board regard--,
ing the lake development,"
he states.
All fund application have
been filed with the Parks
and Wildlife Commission.
This body is expected to act
on the filing at its October
meeting.
"The Commission will re-
view all application sor state-
wide recreational plans and
forward to the Bureau ofOut-
door Recreation those that
meet the Commission's
standards and specifications.
BOR can be expected to act
by early 1973, ' states Lam-
bert.
The Parksand Wildlife Com-
mission has a comprehensive
plan for recreational needs
of the entirfe state, showing
areas of shortages and types
of recreation needed. Mem-
bers of the Commission e-
valuate all plans and approve
those they feel are most need-
ed.
Lambert has developed plans
for the Atlanta State Park,

caster.Fort McKavitt, Fort
Griffin and Fort Richardson.
And there s still more to his
credit. Lambert has assisted
with planning and development
at 15 other Texas park'.
It would be difficult to ar-
gue the qualifications of
Rusk's park architect.
"1 like the work I do, ' he
says. "And I am very opti-
mistlc about the future of
Rusk's recreational plans. In
fact, I think the city will need
to consider the acquisition of
more area for later develop
ment."
"It shouldn't be much long
er before we can anticipate
some real action," assures
He has reason for "making
haste."There are four young
Lamberts at his house who
are eager and anxious to ride
the train from Rusk to Pales
tine. Obviously they will rid<
with more interest than most
since "dad" will have had a
vital role in the development
of the nation's only state,
owned Excursion Train.

by MARY LEE THOMPSON
Big news comes in small
packages for the home this
fall. At a recent home furn-
ishing show in Chicago acces-
sories were the kind of im-
portant accents that make a
room sing.
Wall decorations, planters,
art objects, striking lamps—
all had a touch of decorator
showmanship about them.
Even traditional lighting
styles took on new finishes
and colors. Sleek modern
chrome accessories and Ori-
ental designs also were en-
riched.
For example, 32-inch high
lamps in Chinese ginger jar
shapes set on raised Chippen-
dale fret-work were stand-
outs. Some had black walnut
bases and white pleated linen
shades for sharp contrast.
Wicker, which continues
popular, had new sophistica-
tion in white framing a plate
glass mirror. To match, there
were wall sconces in wicker
with burnished brass candle
arms, and a console table in
the same theme completed the
group.
A planter of fired ceramic
in square, hexagonal or geo-
metric shapes was made with
interlocking bases so that
they could be stacked or
formed into geometric groups
in matte black, white or
glossy bright colors. The nat-
ural look of fine woods also
was highlighted in unusual
ways. Typical was an octag-
onal lamp of yew wood with
a brass base and shade.
