Enroute to Mexico
Rusk High School Span-
ish Club students departed
from Rusk at 1:30 a.m.
May 29 from the Junior
High School on the first leg
of their trip to Mexico.
They left Houston on Bran-
iff's flight 33 at 7:25 a.m.
Saturday enroute to
Mexico City.
The students stayed at
the San Francisco Hotel in
Mexico City through May
31 traveling from Taxco to
Acapulco June 1. June 2
and 3 was spent in Aca-
pulco.

A local option liquor
election is scheduled for
Saturday, June 19 along
with election of a candidate
to fill the unexpired term of
U. S. Representative
Wright Patman.
The option, to determine
the vote of the citizenry of
Justice Precinct 2 regard-
ing the legal sale of
alcoholic beverages.
Citizens in Justice Precinct
6 were to have voted on the
same issue Wednesday of
this week.
Candidates for District 1
U. S. Representative Sam
Hall and Glen Jones have
both filed for the unexpired
Congressional term.
Cub Awards, Plans
Finalized in Meet
Badges were awarded
and plans developed for the
. .Summer .at a meeting of
Cub Scout Pack 405 Thurs-
day night in Fellowship
Hall of First Baptist
Church.
Four youths from Den 6
received Bobcat badges
and five from Den 4 receiv-
ed badges of the same
rank.
It was reported that
these events are scheduled
for the summer months:

Camp at Jacksonville,
June 12: Space Derby Day
Camp at Palestine, July 17
and Sail Regatta Derby
Day at Rusk, Aug. 14.
Cubmaster David Mur-
ray announced that the
Pack's share of fair ticket
sales is $109. Patches were
awarded 23 boys for selling
10 or more tickets; 1 boy
received a fire starter for
30 tickets or more: two
boys, first aid kits for 40
tickets or more and two
boys, scout knives for 50
tickets or more.
Del Patterson held the
record in ticket sales with
109.
"This was the last pack
meeting until school
starts," says Cubmaster
Murray. "It was well at-
tended by Cubs, parents
and other interested per-
sons."
Foundation Gives
Funds to Library
The T. L. L. Temple
Foundation today awarded
$5,000 to the Rube Sessions
Memorial Library of Wells.
Foundation Trustee
Arthur Temple said the
funds would be used to
purchase additional books,
and perhaps a portion
would be used to improve
parking areas on the
library grounds.
Friends of the Library
Finance Chairman Jack R.
Stone said:
"This bequest from the
Temple family again
demonstrates their
personal interest in assist-
ing local activities and
institutions in communities
throughout East Texas."
Stone said Mr. Sessions
and his heirs had donated
$30,000 for the new library,
