PAGE FOUR-T1IE CHEROKEEAN OF RUSK, TEXAS, THURSDAY, MARCH a. WIS
Ready For 'Super Saturday'
These five Rusk men are 'itching' to go money-grabbing in the upcoming "Circle the Square with Cash"
competition slated for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April I. All money collected from the mad dash for greenbacks around
the townsquare will go to the Band Boosters organization for the purchase of Rusk Band uniforms. Pictured are.
from left, Joe Ray 'Baretta' Ocker, Kiwanis president; the Rev. Joe 'Pepe' Gossett, Rotary Club president;
Morris 'Batboy' Elliot, former Noon Lions Club president; and Robbie 'Tex' Rushing, Evening Lions Club
president. 'Hitting the streets' for money in a down position is one of the clubs' secret weapons. Each club is
claiming their members will win the grab for money April 1st. -photo by dan kellum

Costly new power plants.
1

¿4
Why are they built?
If there's no lack of energy
today, why are power
companies spending nil
that money on new plants?
1. Because new kinds of
generating plants are
needed — plants that use
the more abundant fuels,
lignite coal and nuclear
fuel. Today, most power
plants use gas and oil, but
in the future, there may
not be enough of these
fuels to assure you a
dependable supply of
electricity. 2. Because the
future will bring new
businesses and industries,
new jobs and new people
to our area - all needing
more electricity than
present plants can supply.
3. Because it takes many
years to get a generating
plant into operation, power
companies must build now,
no m.iM^r how high the
construction costs.
All this means it now costs
SESCO more than ever to
provide electric service-
and it will continue to cost
even more in the future.
