Sandra Sanders, the in-
coming tourism chairman,
reported that last year the
committee spent $2,600 in
materials and $4,000 in
labor to renovate the old
Catholic Church at Kusk
City Park.
She said the Tourism
Committee plans to hold a
meeting later this month to
finalize a policy and
procedure manual for the
committee's operation.
Flossie Nixson reported
a recent boat show she at-
tended in Houston with
Johnny Miller, Melba
Ballard and Virginia Pen-
ney. She said that 900
brochures were distributed
in about five hours. And she
said that almost without
exception, people asked
about the train's operating
schedule and that the
majority did not know
about the city's camper
park. Mrs. Nixson said she
thought more emphasis
should be given to adver-
tising the city facility.
Brochures have also
been distributed at shows
in Little Hock. Ark .
Chicago and Husk will also
be represented at one in
Dallas this spring.
Houston White gave a
brief talk in support of the
membership drive under-
way this week. He asked
that those present pick up
name cards for contact and
to urge members' to in-
crease their dues He also
explained the recent in-
crease in dues pointing out
that the Chamber cannot
operate in 1981 on the same
fees assessed in 1970.
The board elected Joe
Terrell and Klma Musick
to the executive commit-
tee Approximately 40 per-
sons attended the meeting.
