■Sec U hill Is So
This is the first in a series of articles brought to you by
your friends of the Church of Christ in Rusk. They are not
intended to force anyone to believe anything. If you ever
feel we are doing this, please forgive us, for this is not our
purpose or intention. Religion is a very private thing bet-
ween a man and his Cod. We encourage everyone to keep it
so.
On the other hand we do find in the scriptures en-
couragement to "Study to show thyself approved unto Cod,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing
the word of truth." (II Timothy 2:15) In Berea it ia said of
the citizens, "These were more noble than those in
Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all
readiness of mind and searched the scriptures daily,
whether those things were so." (Acts 17:11) Our Lord him-
self warned the religious leaders of His day to "Search the
scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and
they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39)
Several things are apparent from these readings. The
scriptures contain the truth that we must observe to stand
approved before Cod. Those noble in God's eyes listened
and searched the scriptures for themselves. Man, including
religious leaders, has often been mistaken about beliefs
honestly held, and is (old to search the scriptures for the
answer that can't be wrong. That is what we encourage you
to do in these articles. Check the ideas presented in your
Bible. If they are in agreement with the scriptures, how do
they match the way you relate to Cod. If the ideas ex-
pressed are not what you find in the Bible, please let us
know this. If you show me where I am out of step with Cod,
you will be the best friend I've got.
