Obituary
John B Hopkins
Funeral for John B
Hopkins, 87, of Route 4,
Rusk, was held at 2 p.m.
Thursday in the Wallace-
Thompson Chapel with
Robert Colley officiating.
Burial was in the
Oakland Cemetery.
Hopkins died Nov. 30 at
Rusk Memorial Hospital,
following an extended
illness. He was born March
22, 1895 at Pulaski, Tenn.
He was a member of the
Church of Christ, retired
mechanic, veteran of
World War I and a Rusk
pesident for the past 25
years.
Survivors include his
wife, Mrs. Winnie Hopkins
of Rusk; one daughter,
Mrs. Johnnie Mitchell of
Rusk; a brother, Jack
Hopkins of Seagoville; two

RICHARD BLACK of Rusk plays the trumpet with
the internationally known Tyler Junior College
Apache Band. This fall the band performed at all
TJC football games and accompanied the Apache
Belles, performed for President Reagan at his
request, made a guest appearance at half time at a
preseason Dallas Cowboy football game, led the
Texas Rose Festival Parade in Tyler and will be the
finale at the Cotton Bowl Parade Jan. 1 in Dallas.

who was one of five persons honored recently by
Broadcast Music, Inc. in a salute to men and women
of Music in Sports.

pound Florida Bass caught at one of the state lakes.
The big fish will be displayed at the lodge at the
campsite.
