Miss Holcomb Weds Charles Davis
On Saturday evening,
May 7th at 7 o'clock, Miss
JayAnna Holcomb became
the bride of Mr. Charles
Christopher Davis in a
double-ring ceremony at
the A. Frank Smith United
Methodist Church in Alto.
Hie bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. J. C.
Holcomb of Alto and Mr.
Davis is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Larry G. Davis, also
of Alto.
The Rev. William
Jenkins, pastor of the
church, heard the couple's
vows before an altar of
brass candela bras holding
white tapers and accented
with white bows and pink
spring flowers. The altar
rail was decorated with
greenery and white bows,
with smaller candles lining
the rail. Each pew was
also accented with a pink
bow and spring flowers.
Preceding the ceremony,
piano music was rendered
by Miss Kim Campbell and
Mrs. Richard Johnson
played the traditional wed-
ding march and
recessional on the organ.
Freddy and Sandy Wallace
and Cynthia Johnson sang
"Up Where We Belong."
Mrs. Johnson then sang
"Truly" and Mrs. Wallace
sang "Let It Be Me."
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride chose a
formal designer gown of
white silk organza. Venice
lace, embellished with'
pearls, formed the molded
natural waistline bodice
with full balloon short
sleeves, accented with lace
motifs and wide lace band.
This look formed the scoop
off-shoulder neckline. The
A-lined skirt was augmen-
ted with medallions of lace,
falling to slipper length to
an attached chapel train
with a sculptured frame of
Venice lace.
The bride's bouquet was
a cascade of pink
sweetheart roses with
white miniature carnations
on a bed of baby's breath
and maiden hair fern.
Complimenting the gown
was a floor length veil with
blusher, accented with lace
motifs caught to a lace and
pearl covered camelot cap.
„Mi2L.Diane West, sister
of the bride, served as
Aatron of Wiwior.She wore
a long taffeta gown of
burgandy, designed with a
sleeveless waistline bodice
and gathered skirt with a
wide cumberbund and
bows at waist. The scoop
neckline was encased in
double ruffle of the same
fabric falling off the
shoulder. Attendants were
Mrs. Martha Warner
Elbert of Nashville, Tenn.,
Miss Teresa Davis, sister
of the groom, Miss Kathy
Huskerson of Desoto and
Miss Leigh Ann O'Bryan of
Pasadena. Each wore
dresses identical to Mrs.
West in frost-rose color. All
carried nosegays made of
sweetheart carnations and
baby's breath in pink,
white and rose colors.
Miss Allison Mclntyre,
cousin of the bride, served
as flower girl. She wore a
white lace 3-tiered dress
with puff sleeves and
carried a basket of pink
and white sweetheart
flowers.
Joshua West, nephew of
the bride, served as ring
bearer. He wore a white
tuxedo and carried the
traditional pillow.
Larry G. Davis, father of
the groom, served as best
man. Groomsmen were*
Larry Jo Davis, brother of
the groom, Mark Davis,
Dean Felder and Rick
Felder, all cousins of
the groom.
Gerald West, brother-in-
law of the bride and Mike
Pyle, cousin of the groom,
served as ushers.
Miss Traci Allen, cousin
of the bride and Jeremy
West, nephew of the bride
served as candlelighters.
Miss Allen wore a slipper-
length gown of white eyelet
and Mr. West wore a white
tuxedo.
For her daughter's wed-
ding Mrs. Holcomb chose a
floor length gown of
periwinkle blue taffeta, ac-
cented by cream colored
taffeta bodice and mat-
ching blue bandelero. She
carried a small nosegay of
pink and burgandy roses
and carnations.
The mother of the groom
wore a floor length gown of
ivory chiffon accented with
lace and pleated panel.
Mrs. Davis wore a corsage
of pink and white car-
nations and baby's breath.
Honored guests were Mr.
and Mrs. Lloyd Davis,
grandparents of the groom.
Special guest was Mrs.
Marie Mehner of Rusk.
Mrs. Fisher Harrison
directed the wedding.
Reception
Immediately following
the ceremony a beautiful
garden reception was held
on the front lawn of
the home of bride's paren-
ts.
Candlelighted hurricane
lamps with pink satin bows
lined the way to the white
latticed gazabo where
guests were registered by
Mrs. Kim Davis, sister-
in-law of the groom.
Pink flowers, fern and
hanging baskets were used
throughout the lawn to ac-
cent the garden setting.
After guests registered
they were invited to be ser-
ved from the bride's table
which was canopied with
white organdy and laid
with a floor length tiered
tablecloth accented with
pink bows. In the center,
accenting the table, was an
arrangement of pink spring
flowers held in a tall brass
epergne. Mrs. Paula Low
and Miss Penny Raney of
Nacogdoches served the
three-tiered wedding cake
which was accented with
pink roses. On the top sat
a bride and groom figurine
which belonged to the
bride's grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Garrett Holcomb.
Punch was served from a
silver punch bowl by Miss
Allison Allen of
Nacogdoches and Miss
Julia Knight of Shreveport,
La.
The groom's table was
laid with a burgandy satin
tablecloth and a rose-
colored satin ribbon. Miss
Julie Cook of Bryan served
coffee from the antique
silver service and Mrs.

Cary Carr of Troup and
Miss Susan Buchanan of
Rusk served the formal
chocolate groom's cake.
Sugared pecans, toasted
nuts and dainty finger san-
dwiches were arranged on
silver trays.
Miss Katy Wallace of
Witchita Falls, Miss Mary
Long of Dallas and Mrs.
Chris Parri8h of Spring
served champagne from a
beautifully lighted silver
champagne fountain.
Guests were invited into
the home to view the lovely
arrayed gifts displayed
throughout the formal
living room.
Miss Katie McCarty of
Denver, Colo, and Jacob
West, nephew of the bride,
distributed rice bags from
baskets accented with pink
bows.
When the couple left the
reception the bride chose a
black and white linen suit
with matching accessories.
She wore a white corsage of
roses and baby's breath.
The bride and groom are
both graduates of Alto High
School. She is a December
1982 graduate of Stephen F.
Austin State University
with a degree in speech and
hearing therapy. The
groom attended Stephen F.
Austin and is presently
employed by Kalmar Floor
Co. of Denver, Colorado.
When the couple left the
reception they were ador-
ned with lei's to send them
on their honeymoon to the
Hawaiian Islands. After
their vacation the couple
will make their home in
Alto.
9 Searsal Dinner
.'he rehearsal dinner,
' >ated by the groom's
parents was held on
Friday, May 6 at their
home.
The tables, covered with
white clothes and pink
streamers, were accented
with arrangements of pink
and burgandy colored
flowers and candles.
After a meal of various
Mexican dishes, the guests*
were served fresh
strawberry dessert.
The dinner was attended
by 56 guests.
