PTA. The event will be held
at 1 p.m. July 15 in the
Cherokee Civic Theatre.
Co-sponsor is the East
Texas Chapter of the Texas
Association of Alcohol and
Drug Abuse Counselors.
"Chemical addiction in
the form of drugs and
alcohol which exists within
the family system causes
each family member to
suffer,' explains Mrs Julie
Vining, PTA secretary for
1982-83.
"The situation gradually
becomes more and more
stressed as a result," she
said. "This stress within
each family member leads
to a variety of ineffective
or harmful ways of coping
"In turn, these harmful
ways of coping become a
part of the personality and
are passed on from
generation to generation."
The workshop program,
sponsored by the experien-
ced alcohol and drug abuse
counselors, will show
people the pattern or per-
sonality characteristic and
types of stress that develop
in each family member.
"The PTA membership
invites all parents,
teachers and interested
friends to attend this
workshop," states Mrs.
Vining.
