The Angelina County Chamber of
Commerce is sponsoring an Ap-
preciation Dinner in honor of W. W.
Beaver, Superintendent, Lufkin
State School. The dinner will be
Monday, May 13 at the Lufkin Civic
Center starting with a reception at
6:30 and the dinner beginning at
7:00 p.m.
Out of town dignitaries and long
time friends from across the state
will join local citizens in honoring
Bever for 23 years of leadership.
The Foster Grandpa cents of the
Lufkin State School will be catering
a delicious, home cooked East
Texas meal.
Monday evening, May 13 is a
night you don't want to miss.
Tickets will be available at the
Chamber office for $5.00 a plate,

Ms. Nanoy Jeanne Bojarski, a
resident of Rusk, Texas, will be
one of two artists to be exhibited
with the master of surrealistic
genre, Salvador Dali, at a special
hanging by the Barclay Gallary of
New York. The exhibit will be held
in their South Hampton branch in
South Hampton, New York.
Ms. Bojarski, an abstract
representationalist, was introduced
to the world of art as a child by her
maternal grandmother, Jeanne
Lambkin, after her family had
moved from Reno, Nevada to the
San Francisco Bay area, Califor-
nia. She was selected at the age of
eight to be trained in art through the
Gifted ChHd Program of the
California Artists Cooperative
Association, and additionally
studied pastels in the private studio
of Albert Fallen of Contra Costra
County.
While studying art, Nancy Jeanne
simultaniously was a student of the
piano and competed as a finals
solist in the University of the
Pacific scholarship proformances
of 1982. She was later chosen for
state financed piano study with
Vladimir Brenner at San Francisco
State University.
After earning her Bachelor of
Literature and Philosophy degree
in Europe, she has worked
professionally as an actress, radio
and television personality and
educational film narrator. Nancy
Jean has illustrated for major in-
ternational journals, specifically
the Explorer Magazine published
by the Explorers' Club in New
York. She has taught art with the
Upwardbound Program at Mc-
Murry College in Abilene, and has
wide experience as a surrogate
parent in both psychiatric and
residential centers
Her paintings have been
exhibited in Concord, Carmel,
Oakland, San Mateo and San Fran-
cisco in California, in Washington.
D.C., in New York and in Johan-
nesburg, South Africa. She has
exhibited in Rusk, Kilgore and
Tyler in Texas: and won first prize
in the professional category in
Jacksonville Art League Spring
Show of 1982. In 1984 she was awar-
ded first, second and third prizes as
well as the best in show for abstracts
at the Cherokee County Fair.
During the fair, she was inter-
viewed on radio and television daily
to demonstrate her work in
progress. At The Public Library

Woodland Clinic
April 10 at Jim Hogg State Park
The Cherokee County Woodland
Clinic will be held on April 10th, at
Jim Hogg State Park. The com-
petition will involve 4-H and FFA
students from Cherokee County
high schools. The competition
provides and excellent situation for
participants to gain insight into
managing forestland. Winners will
go on to the state contest.
The Woodland Clinic is sponsored
by the Cherokee County Soil and
Water Conservation District. The
Clinic will be conducted by forestry
professionals and technicians from
the Soil Conservation Service,
Texas Forest Service, Texas Parks
& Wildlife Service, Extension Ser-
vice, and International Paper Com-
pany.
Some people have believed the crops would grow as
high as the farmer could jump.

are being formulated for the fourth
Saturday in April (April 27) at the
First Baptist Church fellowship
hall. The event is set to begin at 10

Nancy Jeanne describes herself
as an abstract representational ar-
tist. The major emphasis of her
paintings is placed on synthesis,
ánd she borrows freely from the
techniques of drama, music and
literature. The subject matter of
her painting is not intended to ap-
pear as it is in nature, but to com-
ment on the emotional and
philosphical subtleties of its
meaning.
Ms. Bojarski is the wife of Ed-
mund Bojarski. Ph.D.. the County
Health Officer for Cherokee Coun-
ty. She is a direct care worker in the
juvenile ward at Rusk State
Hospital. Rusk. Texas and is a
member of the Cherokee Art
League, Inc.. Rusk. Texas and the
Texas Fine Arts Association.

Birthday
Mrs. Nora Hanvy will be honored
with a reception Sunday, April 21 in
observance of her 70th birthday.
The event, to be hosted by her
children and grandchildren, will be
held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Rus
Federal Savings and Loan com-
. munityroom.
Mrs. Hanvy was born April 19,
1915, at Edom in Van Zandt County.
Affectionately known to most of
Rusk as "Aunt Nora," she operated
Nora's Cafe in downtown Rusk for
13 years.
Friends, relatives and former
patrons are invited to go by and
wish her a happy birthday.

A 38-year-old employee of Rusk
State Hospital will probably appear
before the Cherokee County Grand
Jury in May on charges of
aggravated assault of a patient at
the state hospital.
Johnny Lee Davis, Rusk, was
arraigned Friday morning and
charged with beating David Taylor.

Assistant Chief Mike Thomas said.
Taylor was allegedly beaten
about 3 a.m. Friday and had four
broken ribs and severe bruises to
his back and shoulder. Thomas
said.
"The patient was lying in the
floor and wouldn't get up for the
subject." Thomas said he was told
when he arrived at the hospital.
Taylor was taken to the medical
unit of the state hospital.
Investigating the event were
Rusk Police Chief Randy Hatch,
Thomas and Sgt. Rudy Hausler.
