Saturday afternoon with a tea
shower at the Cherokee County
Electric Cooperative Community
Room. Guests called between the
appointed hours of two and four
o'clock.

SP A Dean's List
Vance Wayne Lankford, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Lankford of the
Oakland Community, was among
students on the Dean's List for the
Spring Semester at Stephen F.
Austin State University.
Vance is a 1981 honor graduate of
Maydelle High School and a 1983
honor graduate of Jacksonville
College.
At S.F.A., Vance is a member of
the Association of Baptist Students
and attained a 3.8 grade point
average the last two semesters.
Vance is a senior majoring in
Orientation and Mobility. He will be
completing his internship at the
Criss Cole Rehabilitation Center
for the Blind in Austin this summer.

The Wall Street Journal, May 10,
reports that Barrier Science and
Technology, Inc. has started
marketing a bug killer that is ap-
plied like paint to surfaces. The
product, Bug-X, is a liquid acrylic
that dries clear on exterior and in-
terior surfaces. Insects are said to
die after making contact with the
substance, which remains effective
for two years. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) ap-
proved the product for distribution
in August.

Theresa Eckel
Theresa Eckel celebrated her
89th birthday Saturday *with a
family party. Barbecue, topped off
with homemade ice cream and cake
were served.
Grandchildren presented Mrs.
Eckel with a rocking chair. She
commented, "I finally have a
rocking chair, but I'm not ready to
retire. I will really enjoy it after
working in my garden."
Helping celebrate were Mrs.
Eckel's son and daughter-in-law,
Bill and Mickie Eckel of Rusk; her
grandchildren, Bill and Mary Eckel
of Houston, E. J. and Terry Eckel of
Rusk; Thomas and Kathy Eckel of
Dallas; Raymond Eckel of Paris;
and Zona and Don Garner of
Gallatin, along with eight great-
grandchildren.

wedding bells on the side. The table
held the bride's book, a pink
feathered pen and a green and pink
floral arrangement.
Refreshments were served from
a tea table covered with orchid
overlaid with lace. Centering the
beautifully appointed table was a
silver candelabra holding burning
pink tapers and silk flowers in
shades of pink and rose. Crystal and
crystal appointments were used.
Miss Townley and Mr. Duncan
will be married at 7 p.m., June 15 at
the Eastside Baptist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Lyon recently
attended the Potter Reunion, held
at the VFW Hall in Nash,
Oklahoma. They were also guests
at that time in the home of hts aunt,
Mrs. Anna Combs of Jett,
Oklahoma.
Mrs. Bobbie Penn attended the
Banks Reunion in Alto, held at the
Lions Club on Sunday, June 2.
Mr. and Mrs. Knox Ray attended
the Fair-Ray Reunion held in Tyler
at the Rose Center on Sunday, June
2. ,
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fitts were
weekend guests in the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Ron Harris of Houston this
weekend.
Mrs. Angelien Spivey was a
recent weekend guest in the home
of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Spivey
of Dallas.
Mrs. Glenda Haynes of Dallas
and daughter Crystal were recent
weekend guests in the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Coy Smith.

recent guest in the homes of Mr.
and Mrs. Knox Ray and Mrs.
Angelien Spivey.
Recent guests in the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Stolte were Mrs.
Juanita Causey of Houston, Billy
and Gary Gerhart of Houston and
Hazel Ennis of Tyler. They also at-
tended the graduation of Miss Anita
Stolte on Thursday.

Wedding Date Is Announced
Mr. and Mrs. Don McCallster of Rusk announce the engagement and
approaching marriage of their daughter. Sue Lynn McCallster, to
Timothy Jim Randal Roach, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Roach of
Oakland. Vows will be exchanged at 5 p.m. July 6 at the Word of God
Church in Rusk. The families of the couple invite friends and
relatives to attend the wedding and a reception following.
