On October 11 the club held a
meeting in the home of Mrs.
Creed with 12 attending an all-
day meeting.
Those attending included
Mesdames Wilson, Bates,
Baugh, Bradley, Holifield,
McDonald, Beavers, Clarida,
Viola Wesson, Creed, Gertrude
Bates and Mabel Moseley who
is a new member.
Mrs. Wilson called the
meeting to order after which
Mrs. Beavers called the roll.
Each member answered with a
scripture verse. A poem was
read by Mrs. Gertrude Bates
entitled, “Grandmother.”
The group sang, “I Must Tell
Jesus,” “Just Over in the Glory
Land Way” and “Leaning on
the Everlasting Arms.”
Minutes were read by Mrs,
Beavers and the treasury
report was given by Mrs.
Georgia Bates. A card of thanks
was read by Mrs. Baugh from
Mrs. Wesson.
A council report was made by
Mrs. Wilson. All members were
asked to work at a bazaar in
Canton November 5. Selling will
begin at 8 a. m. Sunday morn-
ing. All reports must be in by
that time.

Mr. Phillips died early
Sunday at his home after a short
illness.
He was a member of Mt.
Lebanon Baptist Church and a
retired salesman. He had lived
in Canton the past year, having
moved here from Irving where
he had lived for ten years.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Thelma Weaver Phillips,
Canton; two daughters, Mrs.
Nell Golden, Irving and Mrs.
Joan Yates, Canton; four sons,
Billy F. Phillips, Irving; Bobby
Charles Phillips, Alba, Floyd
Phillips, Jr. and Michael L.
Phillips, both of Dallas; one
sister, Mrs. Willie Mae Geddy,
Swan; 19 grandchildren, two
great-grandchildren, a large
number of nieces and nephews
and friends.
Pallbearers were Joe Wilhite,
Dennis Davenport, Gary
Davenport, Donnie Holbert,
Ray Weaver and Larry
Chappell.
