Canton on Wednesday,
November 19, at 2 p.m.,
Assembly Room, Courthouse.
The main emphasis of the
program will be color in your

Miss Emerson
Receives Award
Miss Peggy Emerson, a
1974 graduate of Canton High
School, has been named
Who’s Who Among Students in
American Junior Colleges.
Miss Emerson, who is drum
major of the Cardinal Band at
Henderson County Junior
College, is a sophomore.
To be eligible for the honor,
she had to have at least a 2.5
overall grade average and to
exhibit leadership and service

Held For Mrs.
Williamson
Funeral services for Mrs.
Birdie Williamson, 83, of
Grapevine, were held
Tuesday, November 11, at
Foust Funeral Chapel in
Grapevine. Interment was in
Salem Cemetery in Freestone
County, near Teague. She
died November 8 in a
Grapevine hospital.
Mrs. Williamson, a native of
Kaufman County, lived many
years in Van Zandt County
and in Teague, where she
taught school in several rural
schools.
Mrs. Williamson, a Baptist,
had lived in Grapevine the
past 10 years.
She is survived by one son,
Jesse Williamson of
Grapevine, two grandsons
and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Guy M.
Williamson and her daughter,
Nancy Williamson.

Freshmen Beat
Bears 6-0
The Freshman Eagles
played the Brownsboro Bears
in Canton November 6 at 6
p.m. The Eagles won by a
score of 6-0.
The captains for the Eagles
were Frankie Norris, John
Sanders and Bobby Ward. The
Eagles elected to receive the
opening kickoff. Greg
Skidmore took the ball on the
5 yard and ran a dazzling 95
yards for the only score of the
game. The PAT failed. The
Eagle spirit really soared as
Canton held the Bears
scoreless. At halftime the
Twirling Cherolettes
performed.
There was no score in the
second half for either side.
The final score Canton Eagles
6, Brownsboro Bears, 0.
