Aptitude tests scheduled
for high school students
All twelfth graders at Rusk High
School will take the ASVAB, a
vocational aptitude battery' test on
Nov 25 The group of ten short tests
is sponsored by the Department
of Defense The test is administered
free of charge and there are no
obligations on the part of the student
to enter the military The test is a
counseling tool which can provide
the student with information to
assist in making informed decisions
regarding career goals
According the Sherrell Long,
•chool counselor, students will
report to first period classes for roll
call before the test begins She states
that no studying or special
preparation is required to take the
ASVAB and encourages students to
get a good night s rest and do the
best they can when taking the test
When results are returned to the
school, students will be notified to
see the counselor to pick up test
scores and discuss the results The
test is not a ' pass fail" test Rattier.
it will give students an idea of their
abilities Three of the composite
scores measure aptitude for higher
academic learning The other four
which are called occupational
scores, relate to potential for suc-
cess in completing training in a
number of career areas
Parents who have questions or
who would like to discuss the ASV AB
may contact Mrs Long at the
school The telephone number is

GTE Custom Calling!
For Rusk Customers
"CALL WAITING sure helps out when you're a teenager
like me. Since we got it, our phone is never really busy.
My Dad and Mom sure like that! Like if I'm talking
for a long time, I'll hear a little beep on the line
that means someone's calling our number.
So with this CALL WAITING, I just push
the switch to click over and see who
it is, and the same way to get back
to my friend, then get off the
phone quick if I have to."
— Sister
«• •
"Sometimes I get home from
school before everybody else,
cause Dad and Mom both
work. So they got SPEED CALL-
ING and programmed all the
code numbers right into
phone's memory. So if there's an
emergency or i just need something, I
push a couple of buttons to reach the Fire4
department, or the police, or an ambulance, a"**
neighbor, even my grandma and grandpa. SPEED
CALLING is pretty nifty, I can even call my Dad and
Mom at work." — Brother
"Holidays are always a special time at our house.
But things change as you get older. Mom and Dad
are still at home in Pennsylvania, my sister has
moved to California, and my family and I
are here in Texas. Its hard not being
able to go home for the holidays.
But with THREE WAY CALLING,
even when you can't be there,
you can still get together.
\ And what would the holidays
; be without a family get-
* together?" — Dad
"This CALL FORWARDING
is such a convenience,
• especially when we all go off
together on a weekend or fam-
ily vacation, or even just out for
the evening. I just dial a code
V number and a friend's or relative's
phone number, and all of our calls are
transferred to their house. No one knows
we're gone and we don't miss any messages
either. CALL FORWARDING means real security and
peace of mind." — Mom
