cafeteria for those students who
are unable to go home for the
short vacation period.

December 16 was announced
this week as the date for the an-
nual Christmas dance sponsored
by the Senior Class of Saint Ed-
ward’s high school.
The dance will be held at the
Knights of Columbus hall with
Van Kirkpatrick and his orches-
tra furnishing the music. Danc-
ing will be from 8 p. m. to 12
midnight. Bids will be $1.50 a
couple.
Raymond Reeds, Senior class
president and chairman of the
dance this week urged all stu-
dents of the school to cooperate
to make this an outstanding af-
fair.
Assisting Reeds on the dance
committee are the other three
class officers, John Ikard, vice
president; Thomas Burnes, secre-
tary and Stanley Havelka, treas-
urer.

The annual Thanksgiving Holi-
day will begin at 12 noon Wed-
nesday, November 23, and will
extend to the first class on Mon-
day morning, November 28.
Boarding students are expected to
report back to Saint Edward’s by
Sunday night.

Juniors Lead All
Classes With 11
Twenty nine Saint Edward’s
High school students were placed
on the First Six Weeks honor roll.
Of this number, 11 received High
Honors, and seven Honorable
Mention.
The Junior Class led the other
three classes in the number of
men placed on the Roll. Eleven
Juniors were honored six of which
—Walter Burr, Richard De
Pugh, Edward Herskowitz, Paul
Kennedy, Don Weardon and Rob-
ert Lindberg—were on the High
Honor list. Three more juniors
made the Honor list and two re-
ceived Honorable Mention. The
Freshman class also made a good
showing.
The complete list of Honors as
announced by Brother Bonaven-
ture Foley includes:
The Halloween dance sponsored
by the Saint Edward’s Club Octo-
ber 31 was pronounce a marked
success by all the students who
attended.
There were many unusual cos-
tumes and the winners won by
close margins. The following were
named as prize winners: Costume,
Antonio Gonzales and Manuel San-
tini as Mammies (first); Shirley
Miller and Douglas Burton, Jr. as
Western folks (second prize) ;
and Ruddy Mueller and Catherine
Malberger as Dutch boy and girl
(third prize). The Candy eating
contest was won by Fred Bomar
and Marjorie Fuel. Antonio Gon-
zales and Manuel Santini were
second in this competition and
Kay Lighty and John Bauer were
third.
Onnie Bailes as Frankenstien
and Tommy Burnes as a mam-
mie, also had excellent costumes.
Special in costume among the
Mothers was Mrs. V. F. Bomar,
who was dressed in a very real-
istic witch costume.
Square dancing and modern
dancing was enjoyed by parents
and students. Many parents and
faculty members and other friends
of the school attended.
Mrs. Bruce Carson was general
chairman of the party. Refresh-
ment committee members includ-
ed Mrs. Hermena Kamrath, Mrs.
Shirmer Mueller and Mrs. Doug-
las Burton, Jr. Mrs. Russell Jen-
sen was in charge of games and
Mrs. John O’Brien was in charge

A program presented by the
students highlighted the monthly
meeting of the St. Edward’s club,
Tuesday, November 8. The pro-
gram commemorated National
Education week.
Seven students participated in
the panel program. Thomas
Burnes, Austin, was master of cer-
emonies.
Appearing on the program were
Anselmo Cabello, Saltillo, Mex.,
who discussed “The Child Has a
Right to Religious Training”; Paul
Donavan, Oklahoma City, “The
Child Has a Right to Intellectual
Training”; Donald Wolf, Arling-

Right to Cultural Heritage”;
Douglas Burton, Austin, “The
Child Has a Right to Family Se-
curity”; Edward Hershkowitz, El
Paso, “The Child Has a Right to

tional Guidance,” and Ernest Fell-
baum, “The Child Has a Right to
Wholesome Recreation.”
After the entertainment and
business meeting a social hour
with refreshments followed. The
next meeting of the club is De-
cember 13.
