COUNTY ROAD CREWS have been busy in Rusk during the past week as nine Rusk
city streets received seal coats. Labor and equipment was furnished by Cherokee
County Precincts 1 and 2 and the City of Rusk provided some $15,000 in road

Plans for a Pride Patrol Rusk
Pride award were discussed at the
monthly meeting Nov. 16 of the
Rusk Make It Happen Committee
in the Rusk Chamber of Commerce
Directors Room.
Connye and Steve Guy will make
arrangements for the purchase of a
banner to be passed from one win-
ner to the next.
Stephanie Caveness, chairman
of the Make It Happen, presided at
the Wednesday afternoon meeting.
The committee will sponsor a face
painting booth and a ring toss booth
at the Fall Festin Rusk Nov. 2 and
3. Members noted that the booths
will cost the committee $5 per day
day each. Food booth space are
made available to non-profit or-
ganization free of charge.
Christmas lights will be put up
at the Footbridge Park on the
Monday before Thanksgiving and
will be taken down after Jan. 1 in
cooperation with city plans.
"Choo Choo Choose Rusk" plac-
ards have been printed and were
distributed to committee members
for distribution in the community.
Plans are to place a placard in
windows of businesses in the area.

The NCA/TCA of East Texas Af-
filiate No. 10 will meet from 6:30-9
p.m. Monday, Oct 28 at the Ramada
Inn in Palestine.
All professionals and students are
urged to attend. These meetings are
informative and necessary to your
profession.
Accident report
The Texas Highway Patrol inves-
tigated 20 rural traffic accidents in
Cherokee County during Septem-
ber. These resulted in one death
and 12 injuries.
The total rural traffic accidents
for Cherokee County for this year is
221, which resulted in nine deaths
and 187 injuries.
