Mr. Wiegel died Saturday. He waa
born May 21. 1921, in Louisville,
Ky. He waa a photo-graver for SO
years in Houaton and a Baptist.
Survivors are his wife. Pericia
Clifton Wiegel of Navasota; two
daughters and a son-in-law, Bar-
bara Ann and Arthur Lee Morgan of
Washington, Tx. and Linda Marie
Wiegel of Navaaota; a son and
daughter-in-law, Arthur James Jr.
and Diane Wiegel of Houston; nine
grandchildren; four great -grandchil-
dren; and numerous other relatives.
Pallbearers were Shannon
Chapman, Arthur Lee Morgan Jr.,
James Wiegel, T. C. Bloyd, Marc
Leonard and Eric Leonard.

Funeral for Hilton H. Byrd, 76, of
Dallas, formerly of Rusk, was at 2
p.m. Sunday in the Wallace-Thomp-
son Funeral Home Chapel with the
Rev. William C. Everett officiating.
Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Byrd died Thursday at his
residence. He was born Dec. 14,
1916, in Jacksonville and had lived
in Jacksonville, Rusk and Lufkin.
He graduated from Baylor Univer-
sity in 1938, and was an accoun-
tant. He served with the U.S. Navy
in the Pacific Theater during World
War II. He was a Baptist.
Survivors are his wife of 54 years,
Florrie Gregg Byrd of Dallas.
Pallbearers were Bill Cromer, Will
Cum bee, Joe Daniel, Morris Dixon,
Joe Williamson, Ike Daniel, JoEd
Anderson and Houston White.

WEEPING MARY CHURCH
IN REVIVAL—An anniversary and
revival will be celebrated at the
Weeping Mary Church with the An-
niversary Service set for 2:30 p.m.
Sept. 12. The Rev. Herman Martin
will bring the message. Revival will
be held at 7:45 p.m. Sept 13-17 with
the Rev. Julius Sessions, preach-
ing. There will be guest choirs each
night. Pastor Ike Wiley cordially
invites the community to attend the

and his wife visited her last week.
The Lees attended college in Jack-
sonville and worked in the Barsola
Church in the 1950's. They were in a
Revival in Lufkin.
Pastor Bobby King Douglass vis-
ited with Ora Chandler, Wednes-
day. She and Ethel Chandler visited
the Mart Oliver's in Jacksonville
recently. Mealnia Neal visited Ora
on Tuesday. And, Laura Davenport
visited her on Sunday.
Ruby Clevenger and Mary
Wed horn were visited by Thelma
Games and Frankie Hunter and
Marie on Sunday. James Clark from
Lake Striker visited Mrs. Fannie
Clark on Sunday.
We were so glad to see Coy
McAnnally at church Sunday after-
noon. We miss his visit and flowers.
Nora Williams visited Alena Will-
iams on Sunday. Georgia Watson
visited her family on Sunday. Arlene
Williams daughter and granddaugh-
ter visited Sunday afternoon. Ercelle

Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Davis vis-
ited Ercelle Johnson last week. Jan
Johnson and her three boys, Scott,
Jeff, and Greg from Baton Rouge,
La. visited their grandmother and
great-grandmother Mrs. Ercelle
Jonnson recently.
Buddy Lout and wife visited
Minnie Parish on Friday. Erma
Lindsey visited her mother Satur-
day and reported Doyle is home from
the hospital.
Several residents eryoved a trip
to the Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin last
week.

guished Lecture Series of The Uni-
versity of Texas at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 9
at Caldwell Auditorium, 300 S. Col-
lege in Tyler.
Irving R. Levine, NBC News chief
economics correspondent, will speak
Nov. 11 and Oscar Arias, president
of'Costa Rica 1986-90, will com-
plete the leture series Feb. 22.
Admission to the lectures is avail-
able through general admission tick-
ets or through the patron ticket
program. Patron tickets, at $150
per person, include reserved seat-
ing, special pre-lecture receptions
with the guest speakers and re-

Methodist begin
plans for spring
fling on March 5
Plans are already in the making
for the annual First United Meth-
odist Church Spring Fling. A plan-
ning committee met Aug. 10 to work
on preliminary plans for the event,
scheduled for Saturday, March 5,
1994, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The
tea room, a favorite attraction last
year, will be from II a.m. until 2
p.m.
Attractions will include Country
Kitchen, Outdoor Extravaganza,
Children's Corner, Wooden Won-
ders, Country Flair, Silent Auction
and a new department called
Holidaze, which will consist of items
for all of the holidays of the year.
There are several volunteers
signed up to head up the various
areas, but others are still needed.
Help is especially needed for the
Wooden Wonders and the Silent
Auction and someone to help with
the Children's Corner.
