Breen, John Nichols. Julie Jones, Teresa Ragland and Rick Vick.
Representatives of Tyler Junior
College, Rusk State Hospital and
14 East Texas independent school
districts gathered at Rusk State
Hospital at 10 a.m. Tuesday to dis-
cuss the possibility of expanding
college classes taught at the hospi-
tal to area high school seniors.
Tyler Junior College has offered
college-level courses to Rusk State
Hospital employees and the general
public for 10 years, said Kenneth
Lewis, TJC dean of admissions.
During Tuesday's meeting, super-
intendents and TJC and Rusk State
Hospital officials discussed the pos-
sibility of offering college level
courses for high school seniors from
participating East Texas schools.
"These courses will be determined
by the demands of the population,"
Lewis said.
High school students would be
able to apply the courses taken to
their college study under the TJC
Early Admission program.
To be accepted for Early Admis-
sion, students must be recom-
mended by their high school coun-
selor or principal and receive per-
mission from their parents or legal
guardians. College credit would not
be released until graduation from
high school.
Public school districts repre-
sented at the meeting were Alto,
Jacksonville, Rusk, New
Summerfield, Wells, Price,
Crockett, Laneville, Gushing,
Douglass, Grapeland, Latexo,
Kennard and Mount Enterprise.
TJC will offer three courses for
high school graduates during the
12-week summer term which be-
gins May 31, Intermediate Word
Processing, Current Issues in Soci-
ology and Introduction to Speech
Communication. The Rusk term
ends Aug. 19.

courses may register at Rusk State
Hospital from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thurs-

in Tyler on May 26 and 27.
For additional information about

seldom used drains, residents are
instructed to pour water in the
drain to fill the trap, which will
prevent smoke from entering
through the drain. Drain traps
should always be filled with water
to prevent sewer gases or odors
from entering the building. It is
also recommended that the central
air conditioning condensation trap
be filled. This can be accomplished
by running the unit several hours
prior to smoke testing.
Some sewer lines and manholes
may be located on the backyard
easement property line. Whenever
these lines require investigation,
members of the inspection crew
will need access to the easements
for the sewer lines and manholes.

Photographs will be madeof leaks

anticipate the smoke testing will
require a few hours in the area.

ated and information gained from
this study will be used to improve
