Funeral for Nora (Ma) Acker, 93,
of Jacksonville waa at 10 a.m. Satur-
day at the Rocky Spring Baptist
Church with the Rev. Jim Slocum
officiating.
Burial was in Rocky Spring Cem-
etery under the direction of Thomp-
son Funeral Home.
Mrs. Acker died Wednesday in Nan
Travis Hospital. She was born March
22,1902, in Dialville and was a life-
long Jacksonville resident. She was
a homemaker and a member of the
Rocky Springs Baptist Church. She
was a member of the Ferdinand
Lindheimer Chapter of the Daugh-
ters of the Republic of Texas.
Survivors are three daughters,
Ouida Acker Botsford ofPeny, Mich.,
Alline Acker Dean of Tyler and
Delitha Acker Guenzel of New
Braunfels; 11 grandchildren; 25
great-grandchildren; one great-
great-grandson; and several nieces
and nephews.
Pallbearers were Joel Dean, John
Guenzel, David Bethancourt, Larry
Murdock and Jack Stoner.

day in the Piney Grove Cemetery at
Gallatin with Father Peter
Revelpulle officiating. Arrange--
ments were under the direction of
Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home.
The child died Friday when hifl
home burned. He was born Dec. 22,
1992, in Palmarchico, Mexico.
Survivors are his parents, Jaime
and Mireya Rojo of Atoy; his grand-
father, Bento Rojo of Nacogdoches;
his grandmother, Dolores Toledo
Perez of Palmarchico, Mexico; five
aunts and four uncles.
Shelby T. Thompson
Graveside services for Shelby Tay-
lor Thompson, infant daughter of
Joel and Tammy Thompson of Rusk,
were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Atoy
Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Rankin
officiating. Arrangements were un-
der the direction of Wallace-Thomp-
son Funeral Home.
The child was born and died Sun-
day in a Tyler hospital.
In addition, to her parents, the
child is survived by three brothers,
Ricky Mclntyre, Chazdon Mclntyte
and Matthew Thompson, all of Rusk;
two sisters, Lindsay Thompson and
Leah Thompson, both of Rusk; grand-
parents, Opal Caraker of Rusk, Nor-
man and Polly Gilbert of Georgetown
and Marshall Thompson of Rusk;
and several nieces, nephews, cous-
ins, aunts and uncles.
Civic Chorus sets
concert Nov. 11
The Cherokee Civic Chorus, di-
rected by Gloria Dotson, will present
"Holiday Moments to Remember"
Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Cherokee
Civic Theatre in Rusk.
More than 50 singers from Rusk,
Jacksonville, Alto, Tyler, Elkhart,
Bollard and Maydelle are partici-
pating in this concert of memorable
tunes of the months of the year.
Soloists are John Cunningham,
Charles Adams, Ken Dodd and Caren
Waggoner. Special selections by a
ladies ensemble, men's chorus and a
barber shop quartet rendition of "My
Wild Irish Rose" will be performed.
The chorus is accompanied by Todd
Burton and Cindy Cunningham.
Proceeds from the minimum dona-
tion of $5 will be used in the renova-
tion project of the Cherokee Civic
Theatre.

Willie Williams
Funeral for Willie Williams, 68, of
Cuahing, was at 3:30 p.m. Saturday
in the Fairview Baptist Church at
Reklaw with the Rev. Earl Wimberly
and Rev. Earnest Dixon officiating.
Burial was in the Plain view Cem-
etery under the direction of Jenkins,
Garmon Funeral Home of Hender-
son.
Mr. Williams died Saturday, Oct.
21 at his home. He was born Dec. 21,
1926, in Louisiana and had lived in
Rusk County since 1982. He was a
retired service station attendant and
a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby
L. Williams of Cushing; five chil-
dren, Elizabeth Williams of Hous-
ton, Beatrice Robertson, Mattie M.
Williams, Annie M. Williams and
Willie R. Williams, all of Shreve-
port, La.; five stepchildren, Zonie
Griffin, Angus Hogg and Henry
Hogg, all of Reklaw, Melvina Parker
of Rusk and Melvin L. Tipps of
Gatesville; two sisters, Dollie Gar-
ner and Lucille Williams, both of
Shreveport; 14 grandchildren; 23
step-grandchildren; two great-
grandchildren; 23 step-great-grand-
children; and three step-great-great-
grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jay Macon, R. T.
Hogg, Jodie Williams, Alvin Hogg,
Charles Tutt and Beqjamin Duffie.

Graveside services for Lillie Mae
Hart, 84, of Alto were held at 1 p.m.
Saturday at the New Hope Cem-
etery with the Rev. Herman Martin
officiating. Arrangements were un-
der the direction of O.T. Allen & Son
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hart died Oct. 24 in Rusk.
She was born May 14, 1911, in
Deberry and lived most of her life in
Wichita Falls. She moved to Chero-
kee County four years ago. Mrs. Hart
was a Baptist.
Survivors are six nieces, Geneva
Mitchell, Rose Buckingham, Jackie
Brown and Pearline Buckingham,
all of Alto, Sandra Brantley of Rusk
and Kay Henderson of Shreveport,
La.; and two nephews, Nathaniel
Buckingham and Ellis Mitchell, both
of Alto.
Lula Mae Wellborn
Funeral for Lula Mae Wellborn,
90, of Gallatin, was at 2 p.m. Tues-
day at Renfro Memorial Chapel of
the Boren Conner Funeral Home
with the Rev. Willard Anderson and
the Rev. John Woody officiating.
Burial was in Taylor Cemetery,.
Mrs. Wellborn died Saturday in
Nan Travis Hospital. She was born
Sept. 12, 1905, in Lee County and
had lived in Jacksonville most of her
life. She was a homemaker and a
member of bt. John's United Metta-
odist Church.
Survivors are two sons and one
daughter-in-law, David and Cynthia
Wellborn of Longview and Bobby
Wellborn of Gallatin; two daughters
and sons-in-law, Edith and George
Pinkerton, Mattie and Tommy
Beddingfield, all of Palestine, Laura
and Truman Wyatt of Jacksonville;
a sister, Clara Campbell of Roscoe;
seven grandchildren; 16 great-
grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.
Pallbearers were Gary Wellborn,
Tracy Pinkerton, Randy
Beddingfield, Duane Beddingfield,
Jimmy Mount and David Gilleland.

Church.
'Happy Jack' Wataon
Funeral for Herman E. (Happy
Jack) Watson, 80, of Oakland was at
3 p.m. Monday at Wallace-Thomp-
son Funeral Home with the Rev. W.
F. Sides and the Rev. Don Cope land
officiating. Burial was in Pleasant
Grove Cemetery near Maydelle.
Mr. Watson died Sunday morning
at his home. He was born June 14,
1915; in Maydelle and was a lifelong
resident of the Oakland community.
He was a member of Holleyman's
Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Watson retired from Marshfield
Mobile Home Manufacturing Co. in
1977 after many years of service.
Survivors are bis wife of 68 years,
Myrtis L. Watson of Oakland; a
daughter, Ernestine Wataon ofRusk;
a son and daughter-in-law, Herman
L. and Ruth Ann Watson of Rusk;
three grandchildren; three great-
grandchildren; and several nieces
and nephews.

88, ofRusk was at 10 a.m. Friday at
Russell Cemetery with the Rev. Don
Copeland officiating. Arrangements
were under the direction of Wallace-
Thompson Funeral Home.
Mr. Pryor died Oct. 26 in a
Wortham nursing home. He waa born
Nov. 25, 1906, in Rusk. He was a
Baptist and worked as a MHMR
ward attendant for 40 years. After
retirement, he moved from Rusk to
Mexia.
Survivors are four sisters, Joyce
Scoggins of Jacksonville, Beth
Ehrlund of Halletsville, Frances
Phillips of Houston and Luray Nash
of Livingston; four nieces and five
nephews.

Repair work begins

Friends and neighbors came to-
gether Saturday to begin the mány
needed repairs on the Bulah Com-
munity Clubhouse (Bulah Commu-
nity School). Men worked together
leveling the floor of the building,
cleaning the yard and tree trimming.
The women cleaned the inside of the
building, served coffee and prepared
a n\eal. f
Fellowship was enjoyed by all.
Labor and materials were donated
at no cost to the club.

November by the Rusk-Cherokee
