Edna Harkine
Funeral for Mrs. C. J. (Edna)
Harkins, 85, of Tyler, waa at 2 p.m.
Thursday in the First Presbyterian
Church with the Rev. Evan Campbell
officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill
Cemetery under the direction of
Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harkins died Monday night
in a Tyler hospital. She was born
Aug. 21, 1910, in Stigler, Okla. to
Edward Everett and Lillie Victoria
Curtis Colvard.
She had resided in Rusk for 46
years prior to moving to Tyler five
months ago. She was an active mem-
ber of the Rusk Presbyterian Church,
where she was a member of the Ses-
sions. She did volunteer work in
area hospitals for many years and
retired after many years service as
secretary for the Tuberculosis Asso-
ciation. She was a former member of
the County Draft Board and also did
volunteer work for the American Red
Cross.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, C. J. (Chick) Harkins in
1980.
Survivors include two sisters and
one brother-in-law, Billie Ogle of
Ponchatoula, La., Ruth and A. J.
Statser of Big Spring; several neph-
ews, including Dr. Ed. and Reba
Allensworth of Vinita, Okla. and
several nieces.
Pallbearers were Wayne
Townsend, Adon Duncan, John
Hunter, Don Newell, Glenn Miller
and Rudy Sessions.
Orea E. Oliver
Funeral for Orea Edward Oliver
73, of Rusk was at 2 p.m. Sunday in
the Wallace-Thompson Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Don
Copeland and the Rev. Tommy
Mabry officiating. Burial waB in
Cedar Hill Cemetery.
1 Mr. Oliver died Friday morning at
his home. He was born July 16,1922,
in Ardmore, Okla. to the late Madi-
son Stillwell and Ollie Z. Reppond
Oliver.
He was a Rusk resident for 18
years. He was a World War IIU. S.
Army veteran. Mr. Oliver retired in
1984 after 25 and a half years as a
transport driver for Continental
Baking Co. in Dallas. He was a
Baptist.
Mr. Oliver was preceded in death
by his wife, Madie Lee Oliver on Feb.
4 of this year; a son, Orea Lee Oliver
in 1977 and a grandson, Orea Lee
Oliver Jr. in August, 1968; and two
brothers and a sister.
' Survivors are four daughters and
two sons-in-law, Carolyn M. and
Jerry Acker and Judy K. Davis, all of
Rusk, Brenda K. and Dale Mullens
of Victoria and Tommie J. Sarver of
Woodville; three sons and daugh-
ter8-in-law, Jessie W. and Connie
Oliver of Pawnee, 111., Ronald D. and
Sherry Oliver of Waller and Donald
G. and Janie Oliver of Longview; a
sister, Thelma E. Stout of Dallas; 22
grandchildren; nine great-grandchil-
dren; and 16 nieces and nephews.
Palfbearers were Joe B. Lusk,
Jerry Lusk, Robert Acker, Lewis
McCarty, Gordon Smith and Joe
Wade Vining.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry
Don Reno and Bill Middleton.

Mrs. Beasley was born May 4,
1907, in Arcádia, La. She died Sun-
day, Nov. 5 in a Lufkin hospital. She
was a homemaker and mother. She
was a member of the Lufkin Central
Baptist Church. Mrs. Beasley was a
former Rusk resident and had lived
in Lufkin since 1965.
Survivors are her daughters and
son-in-law, Nelda Collins of Lufkin
and Maxine and Arthur CofYman Jr.
of Houston; two sisters, Effie Kyle of
Rusk, Ruby Woodard of Arcadia, La.;
grandsons and their wives, Floyd
and Gaila Collins of Central, Randall
and Ann Sillers Collins of Lufkin,
Doug and Laura Coffman of
Kingwood; granddaughter and her
husband, Sheila and Jackie Lewis of
Diboll; six great-grandchildren; and
a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Beasley was preceded in
death by her husband, Ollie Beasley
in 1961.
Josephine Hataway
Funeral for Josephine Hataway,
92, of Gallatin, was at 1:30 p.m.
Tuesday in the Thompson Funeral
Home Chapel with Warren White
and Otis Daniels officiating. Burial
was in Henry Cemetery at Gallatin.
Mrs. Hataway died Sunday in a Jack-
sonville hospital. She was born Feb.
14, 1903, in Gallatin and had lived
all of her life in Gallatin. She was a
retired seamstress for Rusk State
Hospital and a member of the Gall-
atin Church of ChriBt.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Marvin Hataway, in 1964
and a daughter, Janet Johnson, in
1993.
Survivors are two sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Marvin Jr. and Bettie
Hataway of Jacksonville, James and
Mildred Hataway of Gallatin; a
daughter and son-in-law, Norma and
Marshall Jackson of Temple; a son-
in-law, Grover Johnson of Kosse; a
sister Irene Meador of Gallatin; 15
grandchildren; 28 great-grandchil-
dren; 31 great-great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jerry Meador,
Kit Meador, Forest Glen Meador,
Wesley Hataway, Russell Hataway
and Melvin Hataway Jr.
O. W. Byers
Funeral for O. W. Byers, 84, of
Jacksonville, was at 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday in the Thompson Fu-
neral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.
C. Thomas and the Rev. Benny
Walker officiating. Burial was in
Tecula Cemetery.
Mr. Byers died Monday in a Jack-
sonville hospital. He was born April
8, 1911, in Chandler and had lived
most of his life in Jacksonville. He
was a retired employee for the City
of Jacksonville Water Department
and a member of the Tecula Baptist
Church.
SurvivorB are four sons and three
daughters-in-law, Welmer and Mar-
garet Byers of Nacogdoches, Robert
and Joanne Byers of Jacksonville,
Eugene Byers of Jacksonville and
Lewie and Elaine Byers of Rusk;
one daughter, Sue Byers of Jackson-
ville; a brother-in-law, John Miller
of Van; nine grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Paul Gallier,
David Byers, Ken Mueller, Tommy
Byers, George Woods and James
Robert Byers.
Roger P. Lindstrom
Funeral for Roger Philip
Lindstrom, 42, of Carrollton, was
Sunday in the First Baptist Church
of Carrollton with the Rev. Dr.
Wayne Allen and the Grant Teaff
officiating.
Graveside services were held Mon-
day in Cook Cemetery in Alto with
the Rev. Frank Denton officiating.
Arrangements were under the di-
rection of Rhoton Funeral Home of
Carrollton.
Mr. Lindstrom died Oct. 19 at his
home. He was born Feb. 18,1953, in
Lufkin and was a graduate of Baylor
University. Mr. Lindstrom produced
the Grant TeafT Show for 10 years
and was a member of the Carrollton
First Baptist Church, where he sang
in the choir.
Survivors are his wife, Sue Briscoe
Lindstrom of Carrollton; three
daughters, Emalee Lindstrom, Erin
Lindstrom and Ellie Lindstrom, all
of Carrollton; his father, Oscar
Lindstrom of Rusk; his mother,
Maxine Lindstrom of Tyler; a sister,
Karen Garrett o.f Tyler; a brother,
Jay Lindstrom of Carrollton and
other relatives.
Memorials may be made to the
Roger Philip Lindstrom Memorial
Fund, in care of the first Baptist
Church, 2400 North Josey Lane,
Carrollton 75006.
Paul Ml8kell
Funeral for Paul O. Miskell, 77,
died Oct. 25 in Houston. Services
were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct.
28 in the Carter Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Everett
McCollum officiating. Burial was in
the Veterans Memorial Cemeteiy in
Houston.
Mr. Miskell was a World War II
veteran and served with the 536th
Division in the South Pacific. He
resided in Rusk for 18 years. He was
a lifetime member of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 3406 and worked
for the First National Bank of Jack-
sonville for the last 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, Helen
Miskell of Rusk; a son, Michael R.
McClendon; two daughters and sons-
in-law, Jo Lynn and Robert Trivitt
and Candy and Michael P. Sum-
mers; grandsons, Michal Wayne
Phillips and Kevin Paul Phillips;
granddaughters, Mykel Anne and
Ashley Odell McClendon, Amanda
Pauline and Kari Michelle Summers;
many relatives and friends.

1994. The award is given to those
store reaching a 500 gallon soft serve
increase over the previous year.
Holiday Time
Holidays are a time for family,
friendship and fellowship at Rusk
Nursing Home, which understands
the importance of family. At 6 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 21, the nursing home
will haip a family night with Thanks-
giving dinner. An open invitation is
extended to all those in the commu-
nity who have no family to come and
join in the celebration. No one should
be alone during the holidays, per-
sonnel said.
