Funeral for Dorothy C. English,
70, of Rusk, formerly of Cushing,
wu at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the
Looneyville Church in the
Looneyville community near Cuah-
ing with the Rev. Robert Faulk offi-
ciating. Burial was in Friendship
Cemetery under the direction of
Dickie Allen Funeral Home at Cuah-
ing.
Mrs. English died Jan. 13 in Rusk.
She was born May 5,1926, in Cush-
ing to the late Elmer and Nanny
Rawlinson. She had lived most of
her life in Houston and Conroe be-
fore moving to Rusk six years ago.
She was a homemaker and a Meth-
odist.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Gerald Ray English.
Survivors are two sons, Joe En-
glish of Waco and Jay English of
Dallas; a brother, Joe F. Rawlinson
of Lancaster and a granddaughter.
Roy M. Blanton
Graveside services for Roy
McKinley Blanton, 97, of Dallas, for-
merly of Alto, were at 10 a.m. Friday
at this Alto City Cemetery. Arrange-
menta were under the direction of
O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home.
' Mr. Blanton died Jan. 15 in Dal-
las. He was born Jan. 7,1900, in the
Glenfawn community in Rusk
County to the late Rube and Ollie
Childress Blanton. He lived in
Glenfawn and Alto before moving to
Dallas where he lived most of his
life. He worked in the Jessie Taylor
Barber Shop in Alto before moving
to Dallas. In Dallas he was a radio
service technician for General Elec-
tric. He later operated his own radio
service business for more than 20
years. He was a Methodist and was
preceded in death by one brother
and two sisters.
Survivors are his wife, Jackie
Kellum Blanton ofDallas and daugh-
ter, Juanita Blanton ofDallas.
Ernestine Hall Landers
Graveside services for Ernestine
Hall Landers, 79, of Rusk were at 2
p.m. Thursday at Wesley Chapel
Cemetery in Bluff Dale, Tz. with the
Rev. David Whitehead officiating.
Arrangements were under the di-
rection of Wall ace-Thompson Fu-
neral Home.
Mrs. Landers died Jan. 15 in Rusk.
She was born Sept. 11,1917,inBlufT
Dale. She had lived in Weatherfbrd
and Tyler prior to moving to Rusk 11
years ago. She owned and operated
restaurants in McKinney and
Weatherford. Mrs. Landers was a
member of the Rusk First United
Methodist Church.
Survivors are a son and daughter-
in-law, Barry and Gayla Campbell
of Jacksonville; a sister, Jacqueline
Eberhart of Bluff Dale; two grand-
daughters, Jennifer Socia and
Wendy Campbell, both of Jackson-
ville.

utes and Margaret Griffin, trea-
surer presented her report. New
business for 1997 was con-
ducted.

the Craft Baptist Church with the

was in Providence Cemetery under
the direction of Thompeon Funeral
Home.
Mrs. Ault died Jan. 14 in Nan
Travis Hospital. She was born April
17, 1916, at Dialville. She was a
member of the Craft Baptist Church
and a retired seamstress.
Mrs. Ault was preceded in death
by her husband of 45 years, Rhea
Ault and a daughter, Beth Ann
Jackson.
Survivors are a son and daughter-
in-law, Grady and Sharon Ault of
Jacksonville; two daughtors and
sons-in-law, Char line and Bryan
Guinn of Pailita and Cynthia and
Jerry Paul Alexander of Irving; two
brothers, V. T. (Bud) Jones of
Dialville and L. J. Jones of Grand
Prairie; three sisters, Pauline
McGregor of Piano, Audry Russell of
Rusk and Betty Bierer of Houston; a
sister-in-law, Pauline Kitzmiller of
Dallas; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-
grandchildren and several niecee and
nephews.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Memorial services for Sammy Ray
Hooper Jr., 29, of Jacksonville were
at 10 a.m. Monday at Renfro Memo-
rial Chapel ofBoren-Conner Funeral
Home with the Rev. Don Copeland
and the Rev. Lester Foreman offici-
ating. Burial was in Rocky Spring
Cemetery.
Mr. Hooper died Jan. 18 in Nan
Travis Hospital. He was born June
12, 1967, in Cherokee County and
had lived in Jacksonville all of his
life. He was a Baptist.
Survivors are his parents, Mary
Beth and Sammie Hooper Sr. of
Jacksonville; his grandmother,
Estelle Wood of Rusk; a brother,
Jordan Hooper of Jacksonville and
three aunts.
Pallbearers were Mike Hood, Billy
Lovelady, Jeff Smith and Jimmy
Lanier.

Graveside services for Harold
Wayne Mitchell, 45, of Gallatin, for-
merly of Kauftnan, were at 1:30 p.m.
Monday at Meador Cemetery with
the Rev. Hank Chandler officiating.
Arrangements were under the di-
rection of Thompson Funeral Home.
Mr. Mitchell died Jan. 17 at his
home. He was bom May 7,1951, in
Missouri. He had lived in Gallatin
for four years and was a finisher for
Trinity Church Furniture and a Bap-
tist.
Survivors are two sons, Roger Joe
Redman and Phillip Wayne Mitchell,
both of J acksonville; two daughters,
Lisa Kay Mitchell and Joan Mitchell,
both of Jacksonville; his father,
Melvin Mitchell of Missouri; a
brother, Willie Ray Mitchell of Cali-
fornia; four sisters, Carolyn Berleson
and Barbara Tubbs, both of Mis-
souri, Marie Elliott of Kaufman and
Betty Chavers of Jacksonville; and
several nieces and nephews.
Edna Eaton
Funeral for Edna Gulledge Eaton,
85, of Rusk was at 1 p.m. Tueeday in
the Wallace-Thompson Funeral
Home Chapel with the Rev. Don
Copeland officiating. Burial was in
Old Palestine Cemetery.
Mrs. Eaton died Monday in tyler.
She was born Aug. 13,1911, in Alto
to the late John R and Tennie White
Gulledge. She was a Rusk resident
most of her life. Mrs. Eaton was a
member of the Old Palestine Baptist
Church and a rancher.
Survivors are her daughter and
son-in-law, Jewell Marie and Dan
Scott of San Antonio; a brother and
sister-in-law, J. R. and Mary
Gulledge of Palestine; a sister and
brother-in-law, Sue Gulledge and
Buck Jones of Crockett; two grand-
daughters and grandsons-in-law,
Patti Hill and Glen Kieker ofDallas,
Parklyn Hill and Randy Dillard of
Seattle, Wash.; a grandson and
granddaughter-in-law, Malcom
(Bubba) and Paula Hill ofRusk; three
great-grandsons; and numerous
niecee and nephews.
Pallbearers were Buck Jones, Don
Jones, Dan Scott and Billy Howell.

Funeral for Edith M. Darby, 63, of
Jacksonville was at 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday at the Thompson Fu-
neral Home Chapel with the Rev.
Hank Chandler and the Rev. Randle
Ford officiating. Burial was in
Resthaven Memorial Park.
Mrs. Darby died Jan. 13 in a tyler
hospital. She was born Oct. 31,1933,
in Jacksonville, where she was a
lifelong resident. She retired from
Southwestern Electric Service Co.
after 20 years. She was a member of
the Sunset Avenue Baptist Church,
Jacksonville.
Survivors are her husband,
Carlton E. Darby of Jacksonville; a
son, Michael Darby of Jacksonville;
a daughter, Phyllis Holland of J ack-
sonville; two brothers, Donald
Warbington of Jacksonville and
Rodney Minter of Maydelle; a sister,
Paula Abernathy of Jacksonville; a
special friend, Fay tyra of Jackson*
ville and several nieces and neph-
ews.
