religion, or gender. I don’t see
the problem with a bill which
legislates fair hiring practices, but
many minority groups have been
fighting against the bill fervently.
Why?

As many of you may know, fellow SEU student Claire Diaz has
recently been faced with a serious medical situation. She has been
diagnosed with a brain tumor and is currently undergoing radiation
therapy.
Claire is a senior political science major and has been an active
member of the St. Edward’s community for the past four years. One
of the main attractions to our campus is that it is not just a place to go
to school but also a community. This group includes students, faculty
and staff. Someone in our community needs assistance and therefore
we are asking for your help.
Claire’s treatment costs and doctor’s bills are very expensive.
The costs thus far plus the expense of ongoing treatments are close to
$20,000. Any amount you could contribute would be greatly appre-
ciated and will definitely be going to a worthy cause. Checks should
be made out to St. Edward’s University and must include a note
specifying the Claire Diaz fund. To donate, stop by the Business
Office on the second floor of the Main Building or mail checks to:
