LIPTON'S SOUP MIX
brought Princeton fans to their
feet and put his team in scoring
position on the Wylie 18 with a
thrilling 50-yard run late in the
half but the Pirate defense held
to stop the drive.
Housewright, a 210-pound ju-
nior, scored again for Wylie in
the third and David tackett added
another in the fourth to make it
26-0 for Wylie.
Princeton broke into the scor-
ing column when Jimmy Hulon,
200-pound fullback, went 12 yards
to cross the goal line and quarter-
back Tim Gilbert ran the con-
version.
Seniors playing their last game
for Princeton included end Den-
nis Moore, tackle Louie Askew,
guard Kenneth Campbell, tackle
George Lacy, end Gary Huddle-
ston, tackle Tommy Nelson and
center Mike Morrow. Morrow was
injured during the game but was
back in school early this week.
MIKE MORROW AND JIMMY
HULON were named lineman and
back of the week, respectively,
following the game.

Early in the second quarter,
David. Munger scopped up a
blocked Celina punt and raced it
back 26 yards for the game’s first
touchdown. Randy Rollins ran the
conversion.
Rollins scored from the 1 for
the Coyotes’ third-period TD and
Kelly Cook ran the extra points
to make it 16-0.
Cook added two more touch-
downs in the fourth on runs of 4
and 6 yards and ran the conver-

Wylie Pirates
Beat Princeton
In Final Game
By SAM CLARK
The Wylie Pirates downed the
Princeton Panthers 26-8 Friday
night at Princeton in one of the
windiest football games played in
the area this fall. Gusts of up to
35 miles per hour buffeted the
field as the two teams ended their
1963 schedules.
Wylie scored the first time they
had the ball when John House-
j wright crossed goal line for a
6-0 lead. With 3:07 left in the op-
ening period, Phil Tibbals added
to the Pirate score with a 5-yard

GUNTER TIGERS
BEAT PROSPER
The Prosper Eagles jumped to
a 6-0 first-period lead only to
have the Gunter Tigers score 22
of their own during the second
round and go on to win the final
District 9-B football game of the
season 48-24 last Thursday night
at Prosper. The Eagles added 6
more in the second and 12 in the
fourth while Gunter was scoring
12 in the third and 14 in the final
quarter.
Gunter’s Mike Lewis scored five
touchdowns on runs of 40, 1, 5
and 50 yards and a 56-yard pass
play from Gary Morrison. Jame- l
Savage scored on a 4-yard pass 1
from Watson and William Gray
wound up with the Tiger touch- i
down-parade with a 2-yard scor-
ing dash. Morrison, Lewis and
Savage ran extra points.
The Eagles moved 69 yards for
their first score, in the opening
period, with Ernest Chesney go-
ing over from the 1. A 20-yard
pass from Chesney to John Boyer
featured the drive.
Just before the half, Roger Bell
scored for Prosper on a 57-yard
pass from Chesney. The same
combination worked for a 65-yard
touchdown play in the fourth and,
the final Prosper marker came on
a 67-yard Boyer to Chesney pass
late in the game.

(22-6), the only school with a
chance to share the flag.
McKinney is unbeaten in con-
ference play, they having won 5
and lost none, while Mt. Plea-
sant is in third place with a 3-2
record. The Lions have scored a
total of 112 points in their five
conference games and have al-
lowed only 20 to be marked up
against them.
Bonham is in second with 4-1.
Over the full season, McKin-
ney, Mt. Pleasant and Bonham
have identical 6-3 records.
The Lions and Mt. Pleasant
have played each other seven
times, starting in 1962, with Mc-
Kinney winning 5 games and Mt.
Pleasant 2. Last year the Lions
blanked the Tigers 32-0 in Mc-
Kinney. But the Tigers’ two vic-
tories (25-0 in 1959 and 18-17 in
1960) forced McKinney to settle
for second-place finishes on both
occasions since Lion wins would
have given McKinney the cham-
pionship. Mt. Pleasant finished
on top in 1959 and Greenville won
in 1960.
Pass interceptions at critcial
points set up one Lion touchdown
and stopped several Wildcat
threats here Friday as McKinney
won it ninth straight over Sul-
phur Springs.
After the Lions drove to the
Sulphur Srpings 13 late in the
opening period only to lose the
ball on a fumble, the Wildcats
moved to the Lion 20 midway in
the second but halfback Charles
McKissick intercepted a Wildcat
pass on the 10 and raced it out
to the 49 from where McKinney
went on to score with quarter-
back Ronnie Smith sweeping
right end for the last 12 yards.
Gard Hardin booted the conver-
sion.
The Lions marched 93 yards in
15 plays for their second touch-
down with McKissick blasting the
middle for 19 yards and the mar-
ker with 6:20 left in the fourth
quarter. Hardin again converted
to make it 14-0.
On the first play after the re-
turn kick-off, Sulphur Springs
got back into the ball game when
wingback Jerry Cook took a pass
from quarterback Mike Passons
and scored. The play covered 59
yards. Passons passed to Ronnie
Irvin for the 2-point conversion.
James Walthall and Kenneth
Gidney intercepted Wildcat pass-
es during the final 1:36 of the
game to put down Sulphur
Springs threats.
The Lion defense limited the
Wildcats to just 36 yards rushing
but the visitors completed 12 of
30 passes for 198 yards for a total
offense of 234 yards. McKinney
netted 258 yards on the ground
and completed 5 of 9 passes for
54 more to bring their total out-
put to 312. McKinney rolled up
20 first down to Sulphur Springs’
11 and intercepted 5 Wildcat aer-
ials.
