7th grade team takes 1st at tournament Correction, Clarification
The 7th & 8tll grade Rusk Eagle
Jr. High Basketball Teams par-
ticipated in the Tatum Basketball
Tournament Jan. 17.
The 7th grade Eagles came home
with first place, beating Hallsville
and1 Tatum Jr. High Teams.
The 8th graders also played
Hallsville and Tatum.
Hallsville squeezed by the Eagles
and won by two. The team then
beat Tatum to win third place.
Eighth grade team members are:
Justin Robinson, Chad Linder,
Chad Colston, Jeremy Johnson,
Stevie Nelson, Sterling Pratz,
Michael Cook, Brandon Jennings,
Sean Houston and D'Ondrell
Jeffries.

omitted from a recent obituary of
C. H. Bivins. Mr. Bivins' survi-
vors are his wife of 52 years,
Frances Bivins of Rusk; a brother
and three sisters-in-law, Frenchie
Eugene and Winnie Bivins of
Olney, Wanda Bivins of Fort
Worth and Ernestine Bivins of
Tyler; and several nieces and
nephews.

I Arthritis support
group forming
The North Texas Chapter of the
Arthritis Foundation is forming a
support group to fellowship, and bring
together people with arthritis and /or
their family members who wish to meet
with their peers.
A meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 23 at the Hope Center
located at 595 S. Ragsdale in
Jacksonville.
Jeri Sanderson, program director
for the Arthritis Foundation, will be the
guest speaker for the meeting.

I Grief Seminar
Underway at Hospice
A six week grief seminar is underway
at the Hospice office, 102 Ragsdale,
Suite 103, Jacksonville. The seminar
is open and free to the public.
An on-going grief support group
meets at the Hospice office every third
Monday night.

I Church sets Bible
study, luncheon
The regular second Monday Bible
study and luncheon of the Rusk First
Baptist Church is scheduled for Feb.
15 in the church fellowship hall. The
public is invited to come and join in this
time of study and fellowship.
I Writers slate meeting
The East Texas Chapter of
"Inspirational Writers Alive! will meet
at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11 at the
First Church of the Nazarene, 1709
Beaumont Street, corner of Bryan, in
Jacksonville. Special back-to-back
program is "Keeping Track of Your
Writing and Constructing an Article,"
with Dr. Bob Osborne. The group
meets the second Thursday of the

evangelist. Jeff Stark will be the leader
df the praise and worship music. Youth

Lynda M. Mitchell of Rusk has been
named to the President's Honor Roll
at Stephen F. Austin University for the
fall semester.
To be eligible forthis honor, a student
must maintain a 4.0 grade point

available from FEMA
Residents of tornado-prone areas
can get information form the Federal
Emergency Management Agency
(FEMA) about how to build a "safe

protection against deadly tornadoes.

■ Kid's Fish Day
scheduled
The Rusk' State Park will hold its
annual Trout Fishing Day from 9 a.m.-
2 p.m Feb. 13 at the park. Admission
will be free for all participants, parents
and sponsors. The Fisheries in Athens
will be here with a large tank that will
have trout waiting to be caught by the
smallest children attending. A free
lunch will be served to ali participants
and their parents. Free prizes will be
given away. Special prizes will be
given forthe largest and smallest fish
