and a member of the First United
Methodist Church, where she was
a former Sunday school teacher.
She was a retired kindergarten
t eacher. member of Order of East-
ern Star Chapter No. 79 in Rusk,
charter member of Rusk Thalian
Club, member and past-president
of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Rusk,
member of the Rusk Library Study
Club and former member of Rusk
Garden Club.
She did volunteer work for the
Summers Norman Museum and
for many other Rusk service orga-
nizations. She was a member of
several Rusk bridge clubs, mem-
ber of Rusk Main Street and mem-
be'- of the Cherokee Civic Theatre.
She served as an officer in many
social and civic organizations. She
was a major supporter of all Rusk
community and civic activities.
She and her late husband. Knox
Ray, owned and operated Knox
Ray Men's Store in Rusk for more
than 50 years
Mrs Ray was preceded in death
by her parents. Dr. and Mrs. T. H.
Cobble, her husband. Knox Ray on
Aug. 2.1998. and a sister. Angelien
Cobble Spivey in 19S9
She is survived by a son and
daughter-in-law. Allen and Betty
Ray of Bryan; a daughter and son-
in-law. Malinda and Leslie Liles of
Conroe; a sister and brother-in-
law. Frances Cobble Lindsay and
husband, Ben. of Austin: two neph-
ews, Lee Spivey of Snyder and
Tom Francis of Austin; one niece.
Phyllis Francis Baker of Austin;
several great-nieces and great-
nephews; an extended family mem-
ber. Opal Fitts of Rusk.
Pallbearers were Harold Porter.

etery at Wells with the Rev. Bobby

Mr. Jobe died June 19 in Lufkin.
He was born Aug. 27, 1937, in
Elkhart to the late Walter T. Sr.
and Rosie Mae Rogers Jobe. He
lived in Barsola for nine years and
was a truck driver. He was a mem-
ber of the Forest Baptist Church.
Survivors are two sons, William
Paul Jobe of Kent, Wash, and
Walter T. Jobe III of Kirkland.
Wash.; a daughter, Brenda
Carnish of Seattle, Wash.; a
brother. William Larry Jobe of
Freeport; and two sisters, Edna
Blalock of Conroe and Faye

Wayne Sealy. 30. of Alto was at 4
p m. Saturday in the O.T. Allen &
Son Funeral Home Chapel in Alto
with the Rev. Albert Holiday offi-
ciating.
Mr. Sealy died Wednesday in
Tyler. He was born June 13. 1969,
in Houston to Johnny Ray and
Dianna Thorn Montgomery.
Mr. Sealy was a lifetime Alto
resident. He was a carpenter and a
Baptist.
Survivors are his father, Johnny
Ray Montgomery of Alto; his
mother, Dianna Thorn of
Grapeland; his wife, Lee DeShawn

Funeral for R.V. Higgins, 59, of
Maydelle, was at 3 p.m. Sunday,
June 13, in the Wallace-Thomp-
son Funeral Home Chapel with
the Rev. Gordon Bass and the Rev.
Jimmy Brooks officiating. Burial
was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No.
3406 in Rusk had a flag presenta-
tion at the cemetery.
Mr. Higgins died June 11 at his
home. He was born Oct. 24, 1939,
in Dialville and been a Maydelle
resident for 17 years. He formerly
resided in Houston. He was a Bap-
tist, a truck driver and had previ-
ously worked for Sears and J.C.
Penney as a custom decorator in-
staller for 15 years. He served
from 1956-64 in the Air Force dur-
ing the Korean Conflict and the
Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, Bill and Opal Higgins.
Survivors are his wife of 32 years,
Euleon (Sam) Higgins of Maydelle;
a son, Claude Higgins of Snyder; a
daughter, Claudette Middleton of
Maydelle; two sisters, Lucille
Adams of Alvin and Pamela Kern
of Alto; six grandchildren, numer-
ous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles
and cousins and friends and neigh-
bors.

Mrs. Fiedler was born July 21,
1922. in Belot and died Wednes-
day, June 16 at her home. She was
a homemaker. She was an active
member of the Wells First Baptist
Church for a number of years. Mrs.
Fiedler was a life member of the
PTA. formerly of Belot. she had
resided in Wells for 64 years.
Survivors are her husband.
George Fiedler of Wells; a daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Georgia Jean
Fiedler and Bob Jordan of Buna; a
son and daughter-in-law, Billie
Joe and Mary Fiedler of Wells; a
brother, A. L. Thompson of Wells;
a sister, Lois Thompson Holt of
Houston; grandchildren, Tina
Fiedler, Deann Rienhardt and
Derrick Jordan and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jerry Rogers,
Ross Hicks, Billy Sessions, Don
Byrd, Bobby Sessions and Joel
Sessions.
Funeral for Bert F. Dowling, 75,
of Jacksonville was at 2 p.m. Tues-
day at the Renfro Memorial Chapel
at Boren-Conner Funeral Home in
Jacksonville with the Rev. Rondel
Slatter and the Rev. Thomas Pate
Sr. officiating. Burial was in West
Shady Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Dowling died June 20. He
was born Jan. 17,1924, in Neches
to the late George Henry Dowling
and Eula Work and was a lifelong
area resident. He served in the
armed forces during World War II.
He worked in the timber business
and was a member of the New Life
Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by a
son, Eddie G. Dowling.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy
Ford Dowling of Jacksonville; a
son, Malcom Henry Dowling of
Reklaw; a daughter, Donna
Dowling of Jacksonville; six grand-
children; eight great grandchil-
dren; and step-grandchildren.
