"Texas going dry,
Texas' going dry;
We shall come-rejoicing;
Texas' going dry."
The first time the writer ever heard
this paraphrased song, sung to the
tune of "bringing in the Sheave*," was
many years ago when he was sitting
on an improvised seat in front of a
new west Texas town whch boasted
some eight or ten stores, a livery sta-
ble, blacksmith shop, a main street
which was converted into a bog hole
at each rainfall of any appreciable
extent, and where mayors and city
marshals were as scarce as they were
unpopular and considered unneces-
sary luxuries.
A protracted meeting was in prog-
ress at the little "broad place" on the
Llano Estacado prairies, and it wns
being attended by people from miles
around, the town's population being
insufficient to fill the amen corners.

Some Prohibition Data.
It would take too much time and
space, to go into an exhaustive review
of the incipency and growth of the
prohibition fight in Texas, but it is

on a majority vote Intoxicants could
be barred from certain school sones
