The "Mammoth Prize Ballot” offer has stimulated unusual
interest among the candidates and the big campaign booms.
The “pink” coupons offer big incentive for candidates until
Saturday night. Every candidate in the list should avail her-
self of this big opportunity to get extra votes without extra
effort. Two yearly subscriptions this week will yield 50,000
extra votes Now is the time of big opportunities in the Aus-
tin American’s big campaign. Plenty of time to enter and win.

yet been determined,
HU name oes not appear as chalr-
man of the censorship committee,
nor does there seem to hare been
any euch committee named by the
mangera of the San-Sam festival.
Plenty of Merriment.
The censorship of the Auatin chief
of police seems to have come about
substantially as follows;
The burlesque parade was going
along smoothly and nicely and ev-
erybody was applauding aa well as
laughing at the splendid humorous
floata.
Each and every float is really
worth special Individual Commenda-
tion.
One of the particularly humorous
floats was that of the pone Star
garage.
Story of a Safe.
To understand the entire occur-
rence it perhaps should be under-
stood at the outset that thieves
who are making a business of get-
ting away with cafes belonging to
gasoline and oil companies have been
rather successful, until there are only
two gasoline stations where the safes
have not been stolen or carted off.
One of the safes, on West Sixth
street, is a vault which constitutes
its own protection.
The other safe, in the remaining
station, is still unhonored by the
safe robbers.
Burglary Blocked by Lone Star Man.
The other night burglars got into
the Texas Company's office at 101
West Fifth street, which is known
nr filling station No, 1.
The other safe, in the remaining
front door when one of the em-
ployes of the Lone 8tar garage dis-
covered them, scared them off and
reported the matter to the police.
Float Showed a Safe.
When the proprietor of the Lone
War Ksregr decided to enter an at-
tractive float in the SanSam bur-
lesque parade he conceived an idea
long been strong rivals in commer-
cial, industrial and even in athletic
contests are manifesting their old-
time fighting spirit and each seems
to be working as a unit for the
success of their home candidates
and the community that puts up the
best fight for their candidate is
surely going to win.
The young women who have been
shrewd enough to take advantage of
the old-time spirit of rivalry have
found it an effective method to call
upon prominent citiens to aid them
in administering one more defeat
to their neighbor.
Second Paymnents or
Extended SubscriptionS.
Candidates who have taken sub-
scriptions for six months should go
back to these subscribers and get
them to extend their subscriptions
to a year or even two years.
It is pointed out here that sec-
ond or extended payments count fast
in votes.
In event a subscriber has paid
$3.75 for a six months' subscription
and the subscription was new, the
candidate received 7000 votes.
By getting this subscriber to pay
the balance of the year ($3.25), the
candidate will receive 11,600 votes
on the second pay meat
if the subscription was a renewal
of an old subscription the number
of votes will be one-half of this
numbet. but all will apply for their
proportion of the extra votes on
the PRIZE BALLOT effer.
In all cases where such subscrip-
tions are secured, candidates must
be sure to mark their stubs "Sec-
ond Payment"" which wil. insure
them in getting the proper number
of votes.
Before turning them in candidates
must hemelves be sure that they
are "second payments*’ and that a
payment of at least six months has
been made during the campaign
if the first subscription was for
a whole year and the subscrber
wishes to extend his subscription for
only six months more, then the fell
rate of $3.75 must be collected.
