May 29 at railroad

The Texas State Railroad
continues to operate at or near
cap a city for the spring with the
summer looking like it will be
just as successful.
John Garbutt, program
administrator for the Texas
State Railroad said the "Offi-
cial Railroad" of Texas is doing
very well.
Garbutt saida special promo-
tion called "Kids Ride Free' will
be held at the railroad May 29
through Sept. 5.
Up to five children, age 12
and under, can ride free when
accompanying a paying adult.
The promotion will begin on
Memorial Day weekend and
continue through Labor Day.
"We are very busy just with
our regular runs," Garbutt said.
"We have some school runs set
from both the Palestine and
Rusk ends.
Those runs arealreadybooked
for three weeks in May."
Garbutt also said the TSR will
host special Armed Forces Day
events at the Palestine railroad
park on May 15-16.
"A World War II re-enactment
will take place on the grounds at
Palestine on May 15 during the
afternoon," Garbutt said.
An education day will be held
at the at the Palestine park on
May 14.
Regular train excursions are
held Saturdays and Sundays
through May; Thursdays and
Sundays June and July.
Regular seating for and adult
is $11 one way and $16 for a
round trip, for a child (3-12)
it is $7 one way and $10 for a
round trip.
Climate controlled prices
are from an adult, one way
$14, round trip, $22 and for
a child, $11 one way and $15
round trip.
The Rusk train departs at
11 a.m. and arrives at the
Palestine depot at 12:30 p.m.
and departs Palestine at 2 p. m.
arriving at Rusk at 3:30 p.m.
The Palestine train depart at
1 p.m. and arrives at Rusk at
12:30 p.m. then departs Rusk
at 2 p.m. and arrives back in
Palestine at 3:30 p.m.
