Rusk's annual yule season officially opens
Rusk holiday season
begins with lighting
on Friday, parade on
Saturday

The annual holiday season
began with the lighting cer-
emony Friday evening. Dee. 2,
and the Christmas parade on
Saturday morning, Dec. 3.
Scriptures, songs and a live
nativity scene por I rayed the
arrival of the Christ Child.
Local churches, schools, busi-
ne sse's and civic group s partici-
pated in the event to tell the
true meaning of the season.
SantaQaus made his arrival
at 10 a.m. Dec. 3 in the annual
yule parade.
A number of floats, bands,
marching groups and decorated
cars made their way through
the parade route. Local citi-
zens lined the streets to watch
and cheer their friends and
neighbors participating in the
event.
Par ade float winner s included
first place. Friends of the Texas
State Railroad, a Peter Pan
Express; second place. Cub
Scout Pack 405, The Christ-
mas Story: and third place, the
F oreman F amily. A Candyland
Christmas.
Float winners ware presented
with gift baskets of items from
Rusk merchants.
Planswere made to announce
the winner s for the window and
business decorations, aswellas
home lighting at a later date.

of "Jailhouse Rock." The float was one of many entered in the Dec. 3 annual Christmas
parade.
Mary and Joseph enter the downtown area Friday night
for the annual Christmas lighting ceremony. A live nativity
was presented on the south side of the square. At bottom
three kings brings their gifts to the Christ child.
