A total of $84,719 in scholar-
ships was presented May 26 to
Wells High School graduates,
Douglas Durham, valedicto-
rian, received a total of $29,060.
Brett Morton, salutatorian,
received $21,209.
Mr. Durham graduated with
a grade point average of 99.642
and Mr. Morton with a grade
point average of 98.667.

They will be honored by their
parents with a wedding recep-
tion Sunday afternoon, July
16, at the home of the groom's
parents. Thenewlywedswillbe
honored with wedding showers
in Texas City and the Houston -
Conroe area at a time andplace
to be announced later.
Mr. Cates graduated with
honors from Alto High School
in 1989 and from Texas A&M
from the University of Texas at
Tyler in genetics, biochemistry,
and medical technology. Miss
Williamson is a 1993 graduate
of Clear Lake High School and
a 2003 graduate with honor
from San Jacinto College in
Pasadena with certification
as a certified nurse assistant
(CNA),phlebotomist andmedi-
cal lab technologist (MLT).
Mr. Cates is an MT in the
medical laboratory at Main-
land Hospital in Texas City.
Miss Williamson is a MLT in
the medical laboratory also at
Mainland Hospital in Texas
City.
Following their honeymoon
they will be at home in Texas
