Funeral Home chapel with
Pastor Robert Corbell officiat-
ing. Burial was in Resthaven
Memorial Park in Jackson-
ville.
Mrs. Schultz died June I t.
She was born July 25, 1940,
in Pana, 111. She was a home-
maker.
Preceding her in death were
her husbands, Henry Pot-
ter, Ruben Akin and Daniel
Schultz.
Survivorsinclude a son, Kyle
Potter of Houston.

E. Black, 88, of Tyler, formerly
of Rusk, was at 10 a.m. Monday
at the First Congregational
Methodist Church with the Rev.
Ray Robbins officiating. Burial
was in Cedar Hill Cemetery
under the direction of Wallace-
Thompson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Black died June 16.
She was born Jan. 16, 1919, in
Converse, La., to the late Oliver
and Ada Daugherty Price. She
was one of five children.
She was a resident of Ruskfor
50 years and formerly lived in
Port Arthur from 1936 to 1951.
She movedto Tyler in 2002. She
retired in 1981 after 25 years
as secretary for the County
Superintendent of Schools and
Cherokee County Teacher's
Federal Credit Union. She
was the local registrar for
death certificates. In 1998
she received her 50-year pin
from Port Arthur Chapter of
the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was the Good Samaritan
director for several years in
Rusk. She was a member of
the Rusk First Congregational
Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, Lydell "Dell''
Black in 1983.
Survivors are a daughter and
son-in-law, Lynda and Burley
Kinsel of Lake Palestine; two
granddaughters and their
husbands. Sheila and David
Mogle and Melanie and Robby
Leach, all of Whitehousé:
great-grandchildren, Courtney
and Cody Mogle and Skylar
Leach, all of Whitehouse; four
nieces, Patty Oltremari, Helen
Robertson, Mary Ada Russell
and Doris Ring; nephew, Jeff
Price; and all of the nephew's
and niece's spouses, children
and grandchildren. Pallbear-
ers were David Mogle, Robby
Leach, Cody Mogle, Jerry Ol-
tremari, Jeff Price and Mike
Russell.

Col. Martin died June 15.
He was born April 29, 1931,
in Humboldt, S.D. He retired
from the U.S. Air Force after
23 years. He was also a retired
ground school simulator in-
structor for American Airlines
for 23 years. Preceding him in
death was his wife Patsy Jane
Martin.
Survivors are a son and

Howland, 68, of Jacksonville,
was at 10 a.m. Monday at
Thompson Funeral Home
chapel with the Rev. James
Morris officiating. Burial was
in Earle's Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Howland died June 15.
She was born July 15, 1938,
in Hattisburg, Miss. She was
an employee of Snoke's Special
Products and a member of the
New Hope Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death was
her husband, Jerry Lee How-
land. Survivors are two sons
and daughters-in-law, Jerry
L. and Lori Howland and
Scott A. and Linda Howland,
all of Jacksonville; a daughter.
Terry Lynn Howland and Jerry
of New Braunfels; 11 grand-
children; and 11 great-grand-
children; and several nieces,
nephews, and other relatives
and friends.

G.L. Skinner tribute
The Alto Independent School District extends this
formal expression of its sorrow at the death of G.L. Skin-
ner, a highly respected member of the Alto ISD board of
trustees. The board of trustees surviving Mr. Skinner
will note in the board minutes the passing of a man
who was esteemed by his associates and admired by
all. His eight years of service on the board of trustees
and his dedication to all the children of Alto will be his
legacy. The Alto ISD Board Of Trustees, school admin-
istration and staff extends to the family their deepest
sympathies. He will be fondly remembered.

Alto Brotherhood meets
June 23 at New Hope
The Alto Area Christian Brother-
hood will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday,
June 23, at the New Hope Baptist
Church. The church is located on U.S.
Highway 69 north of Alto. Questions

Vacation Bible school
planned at Ponta
The Ponta Baptist Church will spon-
sor Good News Farm, a vacation Bible
school program, from 6:30-8 p.m. June
25-29. There will be memory verses,
coloring contest and a petting zoo.
Young people will participate in sing-
ing, volley ball, arts and crafts and a
rubber chicken chunking contest.
Hotdogs and watermelon will be
served. Activities are available for
youth from age two through teenagers.
Jack White will teach the adult class.
The church is located at the intersec-
tion of Highways 110 and 204.
