My name is Steven Norton and 1 am running for
Cherokee County Commissioner, Precinct 2.
March 2nd is quickly approaching and I have enjoyed visiting with the vot-
ers of Cherokee County and listening to their concerns. As I have driven
around the county roads of precinct 2, many of the people who live on
these roads voiced that their number one complaint was that their roads
were not befog fixed and when they call the commissioner's office they
are told that there is no money available to fix them. Which lends itself
to one of my primary concerns. There was $330,085 in budget money
leftover from last years budget, which is 28% of the $1,176,697 million
dollar budget allotted .to; precinct 2. Why are we holding on to the $300,000+ of your
money (the taxpayer) instead of fixing your roads? Most of the problems the taxpayers shared with me about
v—} I \
their roads could have been fixed for far less than th§ budget surplus of $300,000+. This budget surplus could
have been spent on our roads and bridges in our precinct. I don't think we should spend all of our money, but
I \ \
a 28% reserve is excessive.

Cherokee County needs change. I will bring with me a very experienced background managing 100+ employ-
ees as well as managing multiple budgets for several businesses that exceeded $12 million dollars a year. I
feel that I am the most qualified candidate for commissioner due to my diverse background and experience.
Mr. Pierce's background prior to becoming commissioner was working on the county road crew, which is
commendable, but does not necessarily make one qualified to handle millions of taxpayer dollars.
I would like for Cherokee County to progress instead of maintain. We all know that if nothing changes, noth-
ing changes. We need change in Cherokee County and I believe that I have the business experience and pas-
sion needed to be a great commissioner for Cherokee County.
Please give me an opportunity to prove to you that I am the right choice for the next precinct 2 county com-
missioner.
