born Sept. 2, 1932, in Weches,
to the late Edney Graham
and Roney Lee Woodard Wal-
lace. Mrs. Jones was a lifelong
residentofRuskanda member
of Salem Missionary Baptist
Church. Sheretiredfrom Rusk
State Hospital in 1985, after
many years of service and was
a homemaker.
She was preceded in death
by her son, Charles Roy (Ricky)
Jones; four brothers; and three
sister s. She is survived by her
husband of 62 years, Charles
E. Jones of Rusk; son, Ronnie

Elkin. Mr .Elkin was a machin-
ist in the 1930 s and served in
the Navy during World War II
where he earned the American
Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific
Med;i I. European Theatre Med-
al, One Star Medal and Victory
Medal. After World War H, via
the G.I. Bill, he studied at the
Manhattan School of Music and
was a professional musicianfor
the remainder of his career .He
played for the Buffalo Sym-
phony, the I lowstonSymphony,
Radio City Music Hall and
CARL BASIL ALEXANDER JR.
Funeral for Carl Basil Alex-
ander Jr., 71, of Weches, will
be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the
Weches Baptist Church with
Rev. Gary Luk-
er officiating.
Burial will be
in the Weches
Cemetery.
Mr. Alexan-
der died Mon-
day. He. was
born July 20,
1939, in Hous-
ton. Heservedfouryearsinthe
U.S. Navy and 19 years in the
U.S. Coast. Guard. He moved
to Weches after retiring from
the military, but continued to

He became active with the
Weches andBelott fire depart-
ments. He was a member of the
Weches Baptist Church and the
American Legion Post # 134 in
Crockett.
Survivors include his wife of
48 years, Betty Joyce Alexan-

son-in-law, Laura and Steve
Fillippa of Troup; his mother,
Alice Alexander of Potee.t; five
brothers and sisters-in-law,
Royce and Ruby Alexander,
Gale andLouise Alexander, Bob
and Belinda Alexander, Allen

ney and Vickie Alexander; two
sisters and a brother-in-law.

Rusk IMC announces
special Christmas events
The Rusk First United Methodist
Church will sponsor a "Living Nativity"
from 6-7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, on
the church lawn.
A candlelight Christmas Eve Holy
Communion service is slated for 5:30
p.m. Dec. 24. The public is invited to
come and join in this special service
of worship.
Adams Chapel UMC plans
candlelight service
The Adams Chapel United Meth-
odist Church will host a candlelight
Christmas service at 6 p.m. Tuesday,
Dec. 21. Refreshments will be served.
Everyone is invited to attend.
Gallatin slates Christmas
parade Dec. 18
The Gallatin City Council will spon-
sor the Gallatin Christmas Parade at
1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18. Lineup is
at noon at the Gallatin Community
Center. Santa will be at the parade
and available for pictures following the
event. State Rep. Chuck Hopson will
participate in the parade. Refresh-
ments and cookies will be served.
Preceding the parade will be the
Gallatin lighting contest on Friday,
Dec. 17.

Santa's Workshop in Palestine

more than 4,500 square feet of Winter
Wonderland to provide a one-of-a-kind
journey to the North Pole. Children can
write letters to Santa and personally
deliver it after traveling past the train
station, snow mountain, a sleigh, one-
of-a-kind doll house and candy cane
