Denial Made
A flat denial was issued yester-
d -that W, T. Oliver has been
endorsed or- is a "favorite son
candidate'’ of the range Counts
Democrats.
The statement came from Bob
Sanden president N the Orange
County Democrats. Oliver is seek-
ing the Democratic party nomina-
tion for the State Senate post in
opposition to D Roy Harrington
of Port Arthur.
"W. T. Oliver, state senatorial
candidate, has not been endorsed
and is not the candidate of the
Orange County Demorats. Our
group has not endorsed any candi-
date for any office. and in fact
has specifically refused to en-
dorse any candidate.’’ Sanders
said.
He continued. “It was felt nec-
essary to issue such a demal be-
cause political signs have bios-
somed out recently stating that
W T Oliver was the < andidate
nt the Orange County Demo-
crats." |
Sanders emphasized, "We I
wanted to inform Orange County
Democrats and the voters of Or-
ange County to stress that our
group was not going to endorse II
any candidate
He then declared. “We cer-
tainly would not endorse a can-
Orange coont who had selected I
a county campaign manager whol
previously was the chairman of a J
county steering committee of the]
Nixon - Lodge Republican pres-J
• ideqtial ticket in 1960."
