Under the most auspicious condi-
tions the regular season of league base-
ball will be Inaugurated this after-
noon at Riverside Park. 'The delight-
ful part of the situation is that Aus-,
tin opens at homa. There will no
doubt be general rejoicing as this will
be the first time in two years that
Austin fans have witnessed a regular
league game.
No pains have been spared by the
management of the Austin Field Club,
owners of the franchise, to make the
event one fully equal to the importance
of the occasion. Another feature is
that Austin will have as. its opponents
the Bronchos from San Antonio, con-
sequently some real sport is expected..
A gigantic parade has been ar-
ranged for this afternoon at 2 o’clock
in which there will be over a dozen
motor cars in the procession and in
which city officials, baseball magnates
and other dignitaries will participate
The parade wi]l be formed at the
corner of Third street and Congress
avenue and will proceed up Congress
avenue to the Capitol gates thence
back down Congress avenue to the
ball park. The Austin Business League
band will lead the_process‘on, followed
। by Mayor A P. Wooldridge and the
members of the City Commission; then
will follow the president of the Texas
League, President Dickinson of the
Southwest Texas League; . Morris
