I am seeking your support of my candidacy for the Texas
House of Representative seat for the four-county District 33 in
the May 4, 1974 Democratic Primary Election. I feel my
background and experience will allow me to well serve the
interests of the people of Erath, Johnson, Hood and Somerville
counties.
At age 59, I have lived long enough to have been in business
and farming and have gained the experience that I think you will
agree is needed to serve our district I have been in ranching,
farming and business for many years and I know the problems
the people of our district face.
My wife Mable and I are both natives of Texas nd have spent
our lives building a family and a home. We have lived and
worked in Erath County 17 years 1 have my business interest
in shape so that I can devote the time and effort necessary for
our district to be well represented in the Texas Legislature.
I have been talking with people in the four counties of the
district, Erath, Hood, Somervell and Johnson counties, for
several months, and I feel that thus for my candidacy has had
acceptance within all four counties.
I feel that my farming, ranching and business backgrounds
will lx- very helpful in representing the people in the district.
Most of us in this area have either business or agriculture
backgrounds, and we all know what is best for our state I am
sure that the people of the district I have talked with agree that I
i an well represent the thinking of the district.
I have already arranged my "ranching and business interests
so that I can afford to devote fulltime to the job of representing
the people of this district The House of Representatives in the
State of Texas has become a fulltime job and it will be best for
our district to have a man who can devote the time necessary to
Io the job
In the next few months I will tie visiting and revisiting every
section of the district, to meet and talk with as many people as
possible I intend td run an open and hard working campaign I
feel that I can be a good representative for the people of this
district, and I feel that as the election di aws near, the people of
the dstrc t will agree
