Xi Xi Epsilon Chapter
Meets, Elects Officers
Xi Xi Epsilon, a chapter of
Beta Sigma Phi, met at the
home of Lu Junker Thursday,
March 25. Election of officers ,
was held and they are as fol-
lows: President, Melba Ayles-
worth; vice president, Mollie
Whitworth; recording secre-
tary, Lu Junker; treasurer,
Lois Epperson; corresponding
secretary, Prexy Pegram; and
extension officer, Dell Craw-
ford.
Our Scholarship Fund was
discussed as were our service
projects.
Founders Day will be cele-
brated April 22 at 7 p.m. at
the Trophy Room.

gram entitled “The Voices
Behind Us.”

our next meeting date has
been changed and will be held
Thursday, April 15, at the
home of Christine East.

Balcones Home
Demonstration Club
The Balcones Home Dem-
onstration Club held its regu-
lar monthly meeting on Tues-
day, March 16. There were
21 members present and three
guests: Vera (Mitch) Rigby,
Betty Fisler, and Minna Lane,
all of whom became new
members at the end of the
meeting.
The minutes of the previous
meeting were approved as
read, as was the treasurer’s
report. After committee re-
ports were given, the HD
Council delegate presented
her report on events from the
March 8 . Council meeting.
This included final plans for
the district conference to be
held on April 2 at the Meth-
odist Church Saxon Hall.
Mrs. M a l a e r, extension
agent for home economics,
gave a very interesting pro-
gram on “Cleaning on a Shoe-

The Alpha Beta Tau chap-
ter of Beta Sigma Phi held
its regular meeting the eve-
ning of March 25 at the home
of Brooke Martin.
An election of officers for
the forthcoming year was held
and were chosen as follows:
President, Brooke Martin;
vice president, Doris Ebner;

David Walter Gillis
Passes Away March 27
Mr. David Walter Gillis,
age 75, died in Centerville
i Borough, Pa., on March 27,
1976. He was born on July
17, 1900, in the same town.
He was preceded in death by
a son, Wilbur Glenn Gillis,
and a grandson, Edward
Keith Ashley. Mr. Gillis is
survived by his wife, Sara
Kettering Gillis; a son, Merle
Robert Gillis, and daughters,
Jennie Evelyn Voges of
Boerne, Faye Margaret Math-
erly, and Deborah Lee Mar-
cey; two grandsons and three
granddaughters, and one
brother, John Hormell Gillis.
We extend our sympathy to
Jennie and her family.
