Army Specialist Four Carroll R.
Aiderman, son of David W. Aider-
man, Keene Star Route, Cleburne,
recently participated with other
personnel from the 8th Division’s
16th Infantry in a 35-day field
training exercise in Germany.
Designed to maintain the com-
bat readiness of the unit, the ex-
ercise began with a 45-mile trek
into the Bavarian Alps. The train-
ing included a three-day forced
march to the Mosel river, follow-
ed by a river crossing exercise.
After five weeks of intensive sur-
vival training, the exercise con-
cluded with a command inspec-
tion at the 16th’s home post in
Baumholder, Germany.

Lieut. Col. William A. Sanders, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs.
William A. Sanders of Cleburne, was promoted to that
rank recently at James Connally Air Force Base, where
he is commander of the base Weather Detachment. He
is married to the former Eugenia L. Locker of Cleburne.
They have one daughter, Jean Ann, 18, who is presently
attending Texas Tech. Lieut. Col. Sanders is shown with
Mrs. Sanders, who pinned his silver leaves to his blouse.
