Urea and engaged in leasing
activities was James H. Law-
rence of Mineola, who thia week
' talked with The Monitor and
recalled some of the geological
date surrounding the Haines-
ville salt dome well.
He recalls that the well, after
penetrating the southwest side
of the Hainesville salt dome
overhang, ran into a long series
of oil-bearing formations, some
registering as much aS 90 feet
of pay. However, the forma-
tions had such Idw permeability
that oil and gas could not be
recovered, even after much
sand fracturing.
The Wisenhunt well, after
flowing for a short period, was
put on pump and finally
virtually abandoned as an oil
producer, although the gas
production was tied into the
United Gas Pipe Line that tra-
verses the area a distance to
the south. All subsequent off-
sets drilled ran into the same
problem or were unable to
break through the salt dome.
At firsts British-American
thought that the Wisenhunt
well was producing from the
Woodbine. Lawrence says this
was not exactly correct, that
the formation was a truncated
mixture of all the various*
formations below the Sub ■

Operators drilling the David
Lindley well think they are on
the opposite side of the salt
dome from the Wisenhunt No. 1
location. Lindley estimates that
the new venture lies about two
miles northeast of the Bessie
Wisenhunt No. 1.
The Hainesville salt dome is
shaped much like a mushroom.
' Drillers hope to penetrate the
mushroom overhand and find
oil trapped against the stem of
the dome. The Hainesville salt
dome is one of the largest such
formations in the world.
Lawrence says that if the
Lindley well follows the same
pattern as the Wisenhunt well,
it will run out of the salt at
around 8,500 feet. He remem
bers the Wisenhunt well as
finding production around the
9,000 foot level.
Operators of the Lindley well
are projecing total depth to
10,500 feet. Lindley reports
that road and all dirt work at
the site have been completed,
and drilling awaits only the
availability of a rig.
