Lee shared with the court
three potential site locations
that the committee has been
exploring.
The first option was the
Ridgeway Cemetery, located
near the intersection of State
Highway 21 and U.S. Highway
290 near Paige. The committee
met with a couple of members
of the Ridgeway Cemetery As-
sociation, but obstacles have
arisen that makes the cemetery
not a viable option.

On Friday evening, dozens of
Republicans from across Bas-
trop County got together at the
parking lot of Southside Market
& BBQ to show support for Pres-
ident Donald Trump. The rally
lasted about an hour and a half,
and a total of 72 participants
attended and lined the side of
U.S. Highway 290 while wav-
ing flags and holding signs. The
function was arranged by local
Republican precinct chairmen.

kindergarten, which
has brought on a roller
coaster of emotions and
additional responsibili-
ties to our day-to-day
routine.
I wish I was the type
of person that could
balance multiple re-
sponsibilities, but this
past year has taught
me that is okay to say
I am struggling. At this
time all my attention
needs to be on my son.
The extra time I am
spending on city coun-
cil responsibilities has
become an extra bur-
den in my life. I want
to be able to give 100%
to city council respon-
sibilities and that just
is not possible at this
time. The extra time
that the council has
been meeting with ap-
proving the budget and
the recent late night
executive sessions have
been a challenge for me
and my family commit-
ments.
Thank you to all my
fellow council mem-
bers that have extended
grace to me. It has been
a learning experience
serving on the council.
I have enjoyed it and it
has been an honor to
serve. I love this com-
munity and want only
the best for Elgin. It
is an exciting time for
Elgin and the future
growth that is coming.
I wish the very best to
whoever is selected to
fill my position.

It is with a heavy
heart that I submit my
resignation to the Elgin
City Council effective
immediately. I appreci-
ate the voters of Ward 3
that elected me to this
position. It has been
an honor to serve and
your encouragement
and support has made
the decision to resign
difficult.
When I chose to run
for this position it
was with the support
and encouragement
of my wife, Christine.
She knew my desire
to serve and give back
to the community that
has been my home
for the past 18 years.
Tragically she died a
few months before the
election. After much
thought and prayer I
chose to continue in
the race. I knew that
is what she wanted for
me. I also wanted to
serve as a way of giving
back to all my friends
and neighbors that
supported me during
my time of loss. If I am
honest, I also thought
serving would help give
me a distraction from
my unmeasurable grief.
However, my first pri-
ority has always been
my son. Raising a five-
year-old that is also
dealing with grief and
the loss of his mother
has been a challenge.
