GRANDMA’S BIRTHDAY -
Grandma Marie Burgon celebrated
her 84th birthday last Saturday in
Po-Po Family Restaurant. The
occasion to honor Grandma and
Grandpa Luther Burgon was kept a
surprise from the two and tears of
job and excitement flowed when
they realized that the restaurant
they had owned for 31 years housed
a roomful of friends and relatives.

Citizens Of Kendall County:
I sincerely regret submitting my
resignation to Sheriff Lee H.
D’Spain effective October 15, 1984.
Recently, it has come to my
attention that I needed to make a
decision as to if I wanted my family
or if I wanted to continue working
80 or 90 hours a week and on call 24
hours a day.
I understood when I went to work
that my job was to keep the peace,
protect all persons and property and
keep them safe. WHAT I DON’T
UNDERSTAND is why the
Sheriffs Department works the
entire County with 5 Deputies when
the City of Boerne has 7 Officers and
talking about hiring 2 MORE
Officers.
At this time there are only 4
Deputies working at any given time.
There are Court days, County and
District, when 2, or possibly all
Deputies are in Court. There are
days when 2 or more Deputies are
transporting inmates from a jail in
another county to Court.
There is no way a deputy can
devote the time to fully investigage
a case, whether it is a burglary,

There will be a special meeting of
members of the Boerne Area
Historical Preservaton Society on
Wednesday, October 24, at 10 a.m.,
in the Council Chamber of City Hall.
Margaret Cosby, Society
President, advised that the purpose
of the meeting is to give all the
members a final opportunity to
review, and then to ratify, revised
by-laws as well as a change in the
dues schedule. Arthur Nagel,
By-Laws Chairman, will be on hand
I believe the Sheriff s
Department is doing a fine job with
equipment and manpower they
have. At the same time, I believe
the deputies and the citizens
deserve a lot more than what they
are getting. Law enforcement is the
backbone of our society. Without
law enforcement, we would have
nothing.
Citizens, it is time to get
concerned. Find out what you can do
to get the full protection of law
enforcement. YOU pay taxes for it,
so why not get what you deserve.
Sincerely,
/s/ Bill Adams
