London Meteorological society, real a
paper eutitled “Rainfall at Cherr Punji."
In which he premented incontentable proof
of the extreme mneisture of the country
in quetiom. The records go back fur
nearly M ybara, but prior to 1822am
rather incomplete, there being several
whole years in which no record was kept.
Carefully compiled data from thes
weather journala, however incomplete
as they are, prove that quite frequently
during the sammer, say from May to
September, the rainfall for a single month
ranges from 100 to 212 inehes. Think of
it: Nearly 10 feet of precipitation in 3U
days. Colonel Sir Henry ule’s register
for the year 1841 shows that there were
264 inches of rainfall during the month
