sorghum was cut and packed in large
square piles some ten or fifteen feet
thick, forming a kind of ensilage. The
fibrous matter in the plant has by nat-
ural combustion partially decomposed
making ths feed more digestible and
rendering more effective as a fat pro
ducer the sacharine in the sorghum.
The cattle are very fond of it and
scramble over one another to get to it
at feeding .time, preferring it to any
other food, even to cotton seed meal.

tertainments ever given in the city. The

The tableaux, both instrumental and
vocal selections, md recitations,
were presented in a highly eredit-
able manner and evoked eneores. A
typical gypey scene with duet by Miss
Maggie Rachal and Mr. R. Law de-
serves especial mention, as 'does the
young lady’s recitation of “Diamond
Cut Diamond."

ber of little girls, seyen or eight year.

Tiie hall presented an unusual ap-
pearance, the walls and the stage being
decorated with a half a hundred works
of Miss MeLeod’s art pupils, in oil,
crayon and pastel. They went left
hanging till the following afternoon
ana were inspected by a large number
of people, many of whom were sur-
prised to see such evidences of artistic
talent in this little city.

Sefbol Nonds Bate.
The school bonds, voted by the citi-
zen, of Beeville school incorporation
about a year ago, have at last been sold.
Owing to alleged informalities in the
election returns they were declined by
several prospective purchaners and, des-
pairing of tolling them, the board had
ordered a new election to be held on the
29th, and proposed to Itous a new set,
cancelling the old ones. In the mean-
time a purchaser had been found to
whom the informalities were not objec-
tionable, but to make sure of no disap-
pointment the board proceeded with
the election. A telegram was received
early on the morning of the election
from a bank in Austin in which the
bonds were deposited, informing the
board that the money for the bonds had
been paid over, and the election was
called off. Twenty-eight votes had
been polled. The price paid for the
bonds is ninety eight cento, which is
