Which bore Jim Simpson's name.
His motor car exploded. Tom.
I learned from Davy Slough;
No doubt. if Jim had been alive,
He’d be a chaffeur now!
the copper mine have gone away aad
the place is filled with water. And yet
it waa not all a false alarm. The cop-
per was there all right, but a vein was
not found thick enough to work. It is
possible that some day the right vein
may be found and ths will yet be de-
veloped into a mining country.—Sey-
mour Banner.

The county court house which they
planned,
You surely can't forget;
They broke the ground when we were
boys.
And ‘tisn’t finished yet;
Mechanics, Tom, are pretty scarce,
As all the folks allow.
They can’t get men to do the work.
For they’re all chafeurs now!

SI Perkins; you remember Si;
At whom we used to scoff!
They sold him out at auction once
To clear’a mortgage off!
Heis liquidated all his debts,
I can't just tell you how.
But .he's become a millionaire.
For he's a chaffeur now!

Such prices were never heard of before in the history of this town—decidedly not for this
grade of goods. No matter how many hats you already have, you can’t afford to miss
this sale. Choice selections go first. ..
The packing house across the road,
Dear Tom, has come to grief;
They did a thriving business once
with potted ham and beet.
Those were good old days, dear Tom,
When they palmed off horse for cow.
Today there’s no one owns a horse.
For they’re all chafeurs now!
And what we knew as Bull Frog
Creek."
Now goes by "Motor-Town;”
And autos on the well-paved streets
Go spinning up and down;
I took a job the other day,
"Tis strange, you will allow;
But Tom, ni not be back again,
For I’m a chaffeur now!

About Rev. Livingston.
The Baylor County Banner has the
following to say concerning ReSr W.
L. Livingston, well and favoretl
known in this city, and who recently
resigned his pastorate at Seywour to
go to Dalhart:
“It has been known here for some
time that,Rev. W. L. Lvipgston, pas-
tor of the Preagyterian church, had re-
signed his pastorate here and bad been
bailed to the church at Dalhart. The
move was made necessary by the con-
dition of Mrs. Livingston’s •health.
They are thia week packing up their
household goods and will leave Tues-
day for the plains. I
“The removal of these good people
is a matter of regret to everyone who
has known them. Brother Livingston
took charge of the work here when
the church was in a weak condition,
and has built it up to be one of power.
The recent great meeting here waa
in a large measure the result of his
consecrated efforts. The church has
Deen put on a self sustaining basis
and many of the members have adopt-
ed the tithing system.
Bro. Livingston’s work will be taken
up by Rev. T. A. Mitchell, of Plano,
who will take charge of the pastorate
here next week. Rev. Mitchell- is a
graduate of Trinity University and the
University of Lebanon, Tenn.”

I learned that Aunt Matilda, Tom,
Has buried little Seth; j
They say he took a coughing spell.
And finally choked to death
The only doctor in the place
Waa old Emanuel Howe, 'V
But he refused to take the case,
.For he’s a chaffeur now!
I went back to the village, Tom;
The spot we cherished so.
And hunted up our boy hood friends
Of twenty years ago!
The crowd who tilled the soil with us
Are scattered, 1 avow!
The motor craze has struck the town.
And they’re all chaffeurs now!
You recollect Jim Buzby, Tom,
Who worked for Uncle Zeke!
They say he has a dandy job;
Pulls fifty plunks a week:
I never thought Jim had the spunk
To lay aside the plow! i t
He owns a row of houses, Tom, 4
For he's a chaffeur now!
