Laks Palisades in ths Pate Duro can-
yen. ten mile* due south of the fair-
grounds, has become In reality the play-
ground of the Par handle. This lake
has been created at the Palisades by
damming Palo Duro crook with a solid
feinforced concrete dam of a character
so substantial that It is many times
strong enough to withstand nay possible
water pressure to which it may be sub-
jected.
A bathing casino ia being constructed
on the south bank of Lake Palisades,
and the present fleet of boats and canoes
en the lak4 will be increased by Russell
Bree, who are bringing In a earload
of water craft for use there.
Few Amarilloans know that numbered
among the new residents there is W. B.
F. Hall, who won the Eastern inter-col-
legiate fancy diving championship test
year as a member of the Yale university
swimming team. Mr. Hall ia a Founders
member at the Palisades and promises
diving exhibitions during, the summer
that will give Amarillo a real insight
into this sport. :
A complete aquati equipment, inelud-
ing specially constructed diving boards
from Las Angeles have beef ordered for
use en the bluff on the east bank ef
the lake. Water gymkhanas will be a
decided novelty in Amarillo and Inelude
tilting bouts where two canoes, each
manned by a peddler and a tilter, en-
gage each other with padded lances, the
victor to be decided when one of the
canoes overturns.
Outside of Mr. Hell, there is a great
deal of latent swimming talent already
present In the Panhandle. and much of
thia haa been in evidence the teat two
Sundays at the lake, where dozens of
boys and girls have been swimming and
diving off the high bridge.
Lake Palisades will also furnish an
ideal fishing ground for the nimroda of
this community. Marvin Jones reports
on his return from Washington that the
application for a large consignment of
fish has been approved by the federal
government, and these should arrive
aeon. A similar application has been
made to the new comminsioner at Austin,
W. J. Tucker, which should be acted on
in the very near future

For testing pleasure for convenience -
there are fow things in life that return the

You can get cheaper tires than Kellys. but you can't
get Kelly quality in them. No matter how much you
shop around nor how much you experiment, you won’t
find a tire better than a Kelly for the same price and
you certainly won't find anything as good for less.
Kellys are no more expensive than other standard
brands—and, as we said before, there’s only one way
to get Kelly quality,
